I had a similar issue and resolved after discovering the lockdown of the admin area I had done was blocking access to the Ajax request. It would be nice if this was request was outside the admin area.

<domain>/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?td_theme_name=Newspaper&v=11.5.1
