Have you tried to change design options settings of row, column and blocks? if you make the margin top -10 or -20, your big grid could get upper. Maybe you can do same thing for bottom too, you should begin with row design options. you may try to edit block design options to reduce white space beneath big grid.

Thank you for your replay. I am able to make image sizes smaller with some software. But my main purpose is that i want those images to take up less spaces on homepage. I am changing row and column settings for this purpose. however, when I do so, not only image area is shrinking, also excerpt area is getting smaller too. I want to keep the area balanced according to my view.
