Why do I always figure it out right after asking for help. 🙂
I tried switching themes and using a really basic template and it worked. So I switched back and started removing the article classes generated by the theme. Found the one which was causing the problem.
php– echo join(‘ ‘, get_post_class()); –php
Once I removed this class the map loaded just fine. Hopefully this will help someone else out.
Hi Simion.
The auto update was turned off. I checked in the config file myself.
We weren’t planning on updating to Newspaper 8 (or higher) until another year or so. We bought the Theme mainly for the support. The previous developer hijacked my clients site and we don’t have access to the original theme any more. So I can’t completely remove and re-install it. If I just change themes I will end up with the same problems so I’m stuck.
Would you be able to send me a zipped file of v6.5.1 and a good install / re-install guide? I have to be really careful because the original developer didn’t create a child theme and some templates / functions are modified. Thank you.
Hi Simion,
An upgrade is not an option at this point. Leaving it in this state is also not an option. It is an income producer for a magazine in Florida with a full staff working on it. You guys pushed the VC 5.2 upgrade which broke it’s functionality.
I’m working on it myself, but I need your help as well.
I’ve attached an image of what I see when attempting to edit a page (same issue with posts). Please let me know. Thanks.

Here is some more information from Query Monitor: I’m also looking into how to fix it, but you would know better than me.

I went ahead and rolled it back. (version 4.7). I had backed it up anyway.
The rollback went ok, and the block choices are now appearing on the VC Elements. But it also started a couple of other problems.
I’m getting the “headers already sent” error here: /wp-includes/rest-api.php on line 492
Other problems (major):
The editor block is not showing up at all in “Backend Editor” mode. Only when you switch to classic mode.
Also, no elements are functional. They pull up, but when you click on them they do nothing.
Need help with this. Thanks.
Thank you I will try that. Just a quick question. When I delete the current version of VC. Will it give me an option to keep the data? (I try not to mess with VC if I don’t have to so I don’t know what I reinstall will do).
Thanks!
