Just to clarify, am I correct in thinking then that this Newspaper child theme is backwards? The customizations are held in the PARENT theme? Not the CHILD theme? So why would I want that? The rest of the world uses a CHILD theme to make customizations so we don’t loose all our hard work and customizations? is there anyone who can reply to me and share a response in non-coder language? I am just trying to figure out if I can continue using this theme the way I need to. If the parent is really the child then I’m not sure this is how I want to use this theme. I’m just not sure I’m understanding that content on the link you sent as clear and I think I am reading.

Good Morning Simon, Thanks for your reply. You’re right I just looked in dreamweaver and there is no code in either the style sheet and functions docent even have a line 208 in either the child or the parent theme. I am truly stumped. I will take you up on your offer to contact support by email to hear everyone’s insight. My brain can only go so far, and you guys can really see the bigger picture and details.

I will do my backups and then send my logins for my staging to the email you provided. Thank you, Tonia

Ps I have not entered any code. Im trying to use it right out of the box.

do I have to copy the single, smart lists, module etc to the child theme for it to work?

Hello Simon Thanks for the reply, Yes this blank page is happening when I upload the Child theme, So I have downloaded a new folder with a new child theme zip file and I just now uploaded it and when I activate the theme the live site and the admin site go blank. I called wpengine to see if they could help me and they said its a 500 error and to write your team back that created the theme.

on my staging I also added the child theme and when I went to live site or close the customize section on my admin side I get this message:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare _check_isactive_widgets() (previously declared in /nas/content/staging/feline13/wp-content/themes/Newspaper-child/functions.php:30) in /nas/content/staging/feline13/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/functions.php on line 208

Would love some help, I too have never had this issue on a child theme, so I don’t know what to do.

Hello would you recognize what this error message means in events calendar pages:

Hello where can I find documentation on this wp_booster? I can’t understand what it is? I have an error message eon my events page, is this something I can turn off and on someplace?
