I had already checked the child theme and there is no weird code, but to be sure, I did try the main theme and it did not help. I’ll email to see what’s going on.

We’re not using Wordfence, so it’s not that. I’ve actually cloned the site to a development setup and I have the same issues there, and that’s with all of the plugins disabled, and the CDN disabled as well.

Considering all of that, what else could it be? In particular we’re trying to display dates on posts and turn off the modal image setting.

The only other thing to note is that we’re using the child theme, but I rechecked that setup and it seems fine.

Any ideas would be most helpful.

Sorry to ask a possibly dumb question, but where would admin-ajax.php need to be whitelisted on the server? I’ve disabled all of the site plugins, so I don’t believe any of them could be blocking the file, but I’m having the same issue–we can’t save changes to some settings in the Newspaper admin panel.

Thanks for the recommendation. I think I’ll find another option though as I don’t want to install another plugin and muddy up the site with categories for pages.

I’m going to look at customizing the block in the child theme instead to pull pages by an ACF field, or perhaps use a post category with and link the block using custom fields to an assigned URL.

What I really wish is that the theme had shortcodes or a display option to show text on top of images the same way you can do that with posts, but anyway – thanks for getting back to me.

Do you have an ETA yet for Newspaper 5.0? I either will have to replace the bundled menu with UberMenu, or wait for 5.0. Hugely important to be able to add pages in a “Mega Menu” style.
