Hello,

I started encountering this problem in the past few weeks. It might be a wp problem. Found a solution that worked for me:

1) FTP into your site;
2) rename wp-content/themes/newspaper to wp-content/themes/newspaper-old;
3) Upload new version of theme;
4) then I was able to delete old version.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL…I can finally edit VC blocks again. I had no idea I needed to click on the user groups to enable the shortcodes. Jumping for joy. Thanks again.

This is the same problem I’ve been having since I upgraded and updated. The icons for editing individual blocks are not there. I can only move or delete whole blocks but not edit. Please help. I haven’t been able to use any of the really nice looking homepage templates.

I also have a notice on my dashboard that says: “Important notice: You have an outdated version of Visual Composer Design Options. It is required to review and save it.”

Any help to fix this will be appreciated.

Apologies! I can make edit design options ONLY when I use the default theme. Although the edits are saved, once I switch to the theme upgrade, I can’t edit the blocks/modules. NO homepage as yet 🙁

If you’re still looking for a solution, I just tried this suggestion from another poster, “rk” and it brought up the options that were missing before. Here it is:

I found the solution in a Forum:

– Change theme to default theme.
– see if Design Option under “VC” appears
– if so – just resave data and then change back to “Newspaper”.

Thanks for posting this solution! None of these design options were showing up for me before trying this. I can finally build my home page again. Will copy and paste it in response to my earlier thread.

I still can’t edit the various elements in the blocks/modules on the home page. The only options available when I click the edit icon are: General (with extra class name), Design Options (with CSS box) and Responsive Options. None of the options (General, Filter, Ajax Filter, Pagination) to change these elements is available.

The side bar colors and footers headings are still not in sync. I can’t get my home page set up 🙁

Thanks for this. I’ll try these suggestions. It may well be a plugin conflict because those options in the screencast [under General, Filter, Ajax Filter, Pagination] don’t show up when I click the edit icon.

Will let you know how it works out.

One more question: I had the Newspaper 4.6 (or whatever was the previous update) loaded before this 6 update. Do I need to upload the script in the welcome page?

This was the problem! I was missing a few %% and spaces in the titles/metas in plugin configuration. Problem resolved. Thank you very much for this tip. Great theme! I wish I’d bought it earlier.
