Hello – I have installed the newspaper theme but after installing the visual composer, it keeps asking me for an activation key. How do I get this corrected?
My VC is included from the zip files, but still need the activation key. Why?
This VC is pretty old. and not safe. how to upgrade to vc 5?

The latest version of the plugin will be included in the next theme package. We cannot release the plugin until the proper changes to our theme are made for full compatibility.

I have tried this as well but visual composer is still asking for activation and I cannot use it to build a homepage. Please help.
Of course it will still ask. You have to ignore it. That is what the guide sais. It does not instruct you to do anything about it: http://screencast.com/t/paVAiyyUej
If your plugins does not work, then that is a different matter altogether.
Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

I have the same problem.
I followed your instructions but does not work.
it ask me: “Please activate your copy of Visual Composer”
I have activate the latest version of sdssd but always tells me “Please activate your copy of Visual Composer”
I also tried installing the latest version of wordpress and of Newsmag but I have the same problem.

*** YOU DO NOT NEED to ‘activate’ the plugin with WP Bakery to use it; that is a feature they put there to get you to register for updates and support if you have a paid license.
With the bundled version, you get updates when the theme is updated. Period.
You can ignore the “nag screen to register/activate” with WP Bakery, which you cannot do, since you don’t have a paid license with the ‘bundled’ free version, which works with the theme.
Simply ignore the nag screen. 25,000 other people with the theme use it without activating it, so that should give you some measure of comfort — you do *not* need to ‘activate’ it with WP Bakery to use it. That option only applies if you paid for a separate individual license in order to activate updates and support with WP Bakery who make the plugin — since you didn’t buy a single license for the plugin, you cannot activate it for their updates/support, and have to wait for current tested version with each theme update.
The v5 version is fairly new, and does not add a gigantic number of things to the version still included.
The demos on ThemeForest are all built with the version you have, and that is the version you should use to work with the theme if you want to.

P.P.s. There is no icon in the menu of Visual Composer ‘left. Next to the name (Visual Composer) there is an “x”
You may not have installed it properly, or issue with conflict with other plugin, caching issue, transients issue, etc.
You may want to start a new topic for “VC not working” which has nothing whatsoever to do with the annoying activation nag screen.
To “activate” the plugin to work with theme, you simply need to turn it on from the plugins panel in WP, and make sure you are logged in as admin.

The visual composer activation message appears on all sites that use visual composer, not matter the theme or domain. In our case, you must ignore this message as the Visual Composer does not require activation when it’s provided in the theme package.
