Hello! I’ve been very happy with the Newspaper theme for a year now, except that a few months ago my instagram widgets on both my home page and blog page side bar stopped updating with my instagram profile. Originally I thought it was a problem with my host, WP Engine, but after a few drawn out conversations with their support team we came to the conclusion it has to be a theme issue. I wrote a couple of months ago and I remember someone responding to it, but I’v been traveling and it got lost somewhere in my inbox. Hopefully I’m explaining well, if not I’m happy to clarify!
Hi,
Note that if you use older versions of the theme, it will not work. Instagram made changes to their code. That meant that Instagram elements of the theme stopped working. We provided temporary solutions on the forum
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/social-counter-and-instagram-problem/
The issue was officially fixed in theme update 8.7.3, please check changelog here
– https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609
– https://www.screencast.com/t/IW6kAlrq
So you will have to update to the latest version of the theme and plugins, and there should be no problem anymore with Instagram

Or try making the modifications to the theme file mentioned in that topic, if you do not want to update.
Thanks
Hi Simon,
I went to update my theme and apparently the download is no longer available? It says it was removed by staff or an authority. Is there another way to get the files to download outside of “my downloads” in envato or the link you posted (it says this item is no longer available).
Thank you!
Newspaper is back up on Themeforest https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609
Thank you Edward, I have successfully installed the new Newspaper update. BUT the Instagram issue is now worse. The bottom banner doesn’t download and the widgets don’t recognize instagram content at all. Is this a theme problem or something else? I’m debating just switching themes all together at this point.
SO basically the Instagram footer just isn’t showing up, and the instagram widget isn’t recognizing my account. I can type a few other accounts in that it actually does recognize but for some reason not mine (and yes I’m spelling it right lol). Is there anyway someone could please take a look at this?
Hi,
We could take a look, send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login. Please include a link to this topic in the email.
Thanks
Hi,
@opikon From what I can see you are using theme version 8.1.2 currently, please read the replies from above. Basically Instagram will not work with that version, most of the other socials may not work also.
In the latest theme version the Instagram widget works properly, so is the social counter plugin. So it would be required that you update to the latest version of the theme and theme plugins in order to have functioning socials.
Follow the theme update guide and update the theme, also be sure to make a backup as suggested before updating

Hi,
Thank you. Yes, you are right. I did what you said and update envato market plugin, theme, theme’s plugins. But as you can see that we have some problems with the website. You can browse to see what am i talking about. And we can’t access to the theme panel: …/wp-admin/admin.php?page=td_theme_panel . Customize and edit with tdcomposer buttons are not working also. What should we do to fix those?
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
Please check the theme system status panel, and this theme requirements guide
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Ask your hosting provider to increase the allocated resources and activate the required PHP extensions if needed, according to the guide. The WP memory can be set higher if possible. Then check if the problems are fixed.
Let us know the results.
Thanks
Hi,
Many 500 errors were solved by increasing the allocated WP-memory value (ideally 256M).
Also try to disable all plugins by FTP, if the plugins page is not accessible
– http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-deactivate-all-plugins-when-not-able-to-access-wp-admin/
Then delete all theme plugins, reinstall them from the latest theme package you downloaded. Let us know the results of that as soon as possible.
Hi,
@baris76 I could inspect the website, provide a link to your website if possible where the social counter is placed. Thsi is also a guide to configure the counter

Facebook has changed, now it will only require an ID.
Thanks
