Upgrading from News 8.1 to News 9 and wordpress 5.01

Such an old theme version will probably not work correctly with WordPress 5. Keep the theme updates as well not just WordPress if possible.

So you receive that error when trying to update the theme? That message is usually displayed when updating/installing a theme

In most cases this is related to insufficient resources, please check the theme requirements guide carefully

Also make sure that you are installing the actual theme zip file, not the whole theme package
