Welcome 🙂
Now that you have a child theme going you can edit the ad boxes too, in some file or other, but I haven’t looked at that myself, and @Lucian could probably cut down the time looking for where to add the conditions.
In Newspaper/includes/modules/module_modifier/ you have td_module_blog.php. This is one of the files you can overwrite (at least I find) in a child theme, which you can set up here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/child-theme-documentation/
Once you have the child theme set up and activated, copy and paste that file into the corresponding folder in your child theme. Then edit the file.
The function get_author_box is the one you want to change.
Specifically, change these lines:
$buffy .= '<a href="' . get_author_posts_url($author_id) . '">' ;
$buffy .= get_avatar(get_the_author_meta('email', $author_id), '106');
$buffy .= '</a>';
to this one line:
$buffy .= get_avatar(get_the_author_meta('email', $author_id), '106');
and change this line:
$buffy .= '<a href="' . get_author_posts_url($author_id) . '">' . get_the_author_meta('display_name', $author_id) . '</a>' ;
to this:
$buffy .= get_the_author_meta('display_name', $author_id);
Save the file and upload via FTP. Clear cache and check the bottom of a post.
Hope this helps!

Hi,
@TheMediumUTM Thanks!
You can create a popular video widget in your sidebar using “[tagDiv] Slide” widget and filter the slider to show popular videos/posts, like this http://screencast.com/t/zFKDspkLW9s or like @TheMediumUTM wrote you can filter the posts by tag and add them in the slider.
For the child categories, like this http://screencast.com/t/727gnoDZvnlY
Thanks
One way to do it is to add this custom css (in your theme panel or in a child theme):
.widget {
padding-bottom: 20px;
}

Doesn’t look like an option. But in the theme’s style.css file I find this:
body {
margin: 0;
font-family: 'Verdana', sans-serif;
font-size: 14px;
line-height: 21px;
color: #333;
background-color: #fff;
}
Copy and paste that into your custom css section of the theme panel, or into your style.css if you’re using a child theme, and then change the font to heart’s content.
There are a few plugins that do this kind of thing, e.g. https://wordpress.org/plugins/add-to-content/
You can also use a child theme and edit your functions if you’re comfortable with that sort of thing. Googling this yields a fair number of support posts, e.g. this simple one: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/adding-custom-text-to-bottom-of-all-posts-in-particular-category (Admittedly outdated but still looks applicable.) Or edit your single post templates directly.
Hi,
Glad you have fixed it. I’m not sure, must have been some error within the child theme, so that’s why this issue appeared when you have activated the child theme, it was only within child theme not the main theme.
Thanks
You can see the correct and incorrect hierarchies of the categories in the screenshot, boxed in red green and red, respectively.
I have tried unsetting all hierarchy for those three “draft” related categories and updating the permalink structure before setting them back one by one. I’ve tried setting the “draft” related categories correctly just two levels deep, and then setting the combined nest of “draft” related categories under the proper top-level category. Nothing fixes this. If I unset the parent for the “scouting reports” category, then the “draft archives” category replaces it in the pictured incorrect positions.
This is preventing me from setting category view settings entirely on the three 2nd level categories boxed in red. The theme obviously supports nested categories up to at least 3 levels deep. I don’t get it. When I go to view the front-end of the “Game Week” category, no child categories are seen. When I view the front-end of the “CowboysNation” category, only the correct 2nd level children are listed.
How do I fix this?
WordPress 3.9.2, Newspaper 4.2
Hi Lucian and thanks for your answer!
I was already trying to do something in there, but “Top right (social)” widget area was already empty!
So I solved putting some random widget in that “Top right (social)” and then deleting it right after.
But now I’m wondering: how come this behavior came out only when I activated the child theme? With the main theme everything was just fine… =)
Hi,
I believe somehow you have a block added in the top right widget area like this: http://screencast.com/t/IgPFd4kiw
You have to go to WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets and at the Top Right (Social) widget area please remove the block you have there, like this: http://screencast.com/t/I4u4rzG2S
Should fix this, like this: http://screencast.com/t/19NHXetana
Thanks
Until an option is added to the theme panel, you can style it yourself via custom CSS. Either do this through a child theme (https://forum.tagdiv.com/child-theme-documentation/) or through the custom css part of the panel.
Using “inspect element” on a widget reveals the classes involved. For the titles it looks like it’s .block-title. The class of a widget’s text often varies from widget to widget, and I’m guessing from stack to stack. In blog-stack, for example, a text widget’s content is class .blog-stack .textwidget.
A brand new version (4.2) was just released…
I just updated, both the theme and the child theme, but it happens anyways =(
Hi,
I installed the theme, together with demo data.
Right after i installed your empty child theme, included in the package, before any customization and the layout breaks in this way http://imgur.com/r3DTeRl
What should i do?
Thanks
Thank you, now i got how it works! It took some time for it:)
Hi. I really like this theme and have so far used it on three seperate websites, but I have a few questions about the “blocks” you can build your front-page with.
1. Big Slider: is it possible for instance to instead of latest posts, use a set number of pages here?
2. Same with the other blocks – is it possible to use pages instead of posts? Like childpages of a page or something?
Yup, that’s how child themes work. They inherit from the parent theme except for what you’ve added in the child theme files. Updates to the parent theme are still reflected and everything, but your child theme modifications will still survive updates. 🙂
Ohh, i guess i got it, i shouldn’t switch to the main theme back, right? I just always use the child theme and make all the changes in it?
Sorry, it’s still not clear for me…what should i do if i need to add some code like counters, additional social buttons, text-indent tag and other stuff to files like footer, loop-single, css of my main theme and i don’t want to add them again after every update of the theme?
I thought if i add all this code to my child theme files all the changes start to work for main theme too and they don’t disappear after updates.
What will be if i add the changes to child theme and main theme after the main theme will be updated?
Hi,
You have to add it in the main theme also if you want to use the main theme the changes are just for the child theme.
You can use the child theme and this way you can change the child theme files if you want to modify something without changing the main themes files.
Thanks
Could you tell me what might be a problem, i added file footer.php to Child theme and added a counter code there. When i load my site using this Child theme – i see this counter code, but when i switch to parent theme – there is no code on my site..
hi,
nothing bets a test .
try it, then please paste your result here if you can so others can benefit from it.
Thanks for you message.

hi,
I see that the images are 745 x 483 px
not sure if is working in child theme, did not tested.
the code for the sliders are in : http://screencast.com/t/isHYRu9bN .
but what will happen if we update the theme and your file are not compatible with the new version anymore?
however you can increase the size of the images using css. this css is store in the database and does not care about theme version.
Thanks for you message.
Radu A.
Hi,
Yes it’s the same, as you have noticed by now.
Thanks for reporting that!
Hi,
Unfortunately the theme wasn’t build like this, it only works when you’re using a single category filter form the dropdown, it doesn’t work with multiple categories IDs, this can be achieved only with custom work.
You can find the function here http://screencast.com/t/ghlYhIo20hiR if you want to change the code to show child menu for all categories.
Thanks
Hello,
Hope you are having a great week.
I would like to increase the height of the Home page featured slider image and the Category main image.
Right now they are: 630 x 317
How can I change the height using Child Theme.
Thanks for your continued support and development for this wonderful theme.
