The top menu was not meant to work on the mobile version of the theme. It can be done with css though:

1) You can hide the space with css but now your logo will need adjusting. Please use this code for both:

2) Use this code:

3) Unfortunately the big grid relies on a fixed width/size in order to display properly. If you change the size of the grid it will not work as expected anymore. It is never a good idea to change element sizes as it will affect other parts of the layout as well. You can change the height if you want by using this code:

height: 300px;
}

4) I could not find any ‘—‘ in the article exceprt. Please provide more details.

5)Use this code:

Unfortunately you cannot replicate the current site with just the theme settings. It could be done but with custom work. If you know your way around php and css you can do it. Maybe you can find a few plugins to help out as well. Unfortunately there are features in the site we do not have options for. The header will be the hardest to replicate.
So if you start this project we can only help out so much, as custom work falls beyond what support can offer you.

Unfortunately if you are referring to an option to make the content full width, the theme has no such option. The theme relies on a fixed with and all the elements depend on this width to get their styling. As for the headers and footer please provide more details as to how you want them to ‘dynamically expand’. Please provide more details so we can understand better.

The header and footer are full width by default if no background color or image is set. This causes the theme to go into boxed mode and then limit the header and footer in order to display the background. http://screencast.com/t/ADxbMXpHNPkM
If you wish to keep this aspect, then you need to remove any background image or color and then set them with css, not from the theme panel.
