I am trying to add category quiz to sidebar of homepage, which shows all my quiz in one section of sidebar, for that i have created a category called “quiz” :- http://www.screencast.com/t/Skxa2x6tJV7

I’ve just purchased Newspaper theme for a brand new site (http://www.modern-mavens.com/) and I’m still setting the site up but I ran into a few issues. Hope you can help me 🙂
1) How to get the blue line only appear below the Home button below the menu? I see from the demo site that the blue line only appears at the bottom of the Home button but mine is all the way across.
2) The main slide on the Big Slide doesn’t stretch all the way to the 3 smaller slide on the right. How do I set it? The photo size is 700px wide.
3) Sidebar only appears on the Homepage and not on the internal pages.
4) Adsense ad units only appears on internal pages. It could be because the site is brand new without much content but just in case I missed any setting that I should know, please do let me know 🙂

I’ve tried with various plugins and will not appear caption on the homepage. Will be if it’s because I’m using Newspaper theme?
Plugins I’ve ever used and it did not work: WP Subtitle, Subtitle Kia, Secondary Title, Subtitles …
I wonder how do I put the caption on the links of the homepage like this photo: (subtitles are in red)

I’m using thumbnail images on my posts, because i want them to show on my homepage. But I dont want the image to be shown on the actual post-page. How can i change that? Here’s an example: http://snowboard-mag.dk/the-crap-show-2015-3-laax/
The thumbnail image is in the top of the post.

I figured it out. Had to change the template for the page. The default template doesn’t have the Homepage Latest Articles Section. Two clicks did the trick.
How is the Homepage latest articles section removed? I don’t want it to appear on my homepage.

Hey! I have the slider on my homepage at http://www.techlegends.in , But when I upload images with white background, the navigation Arrows isn’t visible. Can I change it to silver or black? If yes, do guide me with proper details.
and again — this issue only impacts *some* websites. Tens of thousands of websites are running themes using the Visual Composer framework. A small percentage have CPU overload issues, as we did.
If your server setup doesn’t have this issue – it’s a non-issue for you. If your server has this issue it will happen with *any* WordPress theme running Visual Composer and you’ll know right away, not months later.
The “shim” plugin provides “some” of the main elements commonly used for homepage for modules; it does not provide for ALL the VC hooks/blocks/elements. So, it’s basically a solution for those few having the CPU issue — it’s not intended to replace Visual Composer.
If you’re running VC now and not getting warnings from your web host already, then you will likely not have to even deal with this issue at all.

I don’t know how to show the latest sticky post and then the other posts. I picked homepage – blog, layout number 15, sort order: latest.
I already looked at the td_data_source.php file and change ‘ignore_sticky_posts’ => 1 but it doesn’t work.

I am experiencing this problem with the Latest Articles which is on the bottom homepage (with background).
8 pages are included; some articles are repeated in the following pages.
In other words: article X is diplayed on home, 2nd and 5th page.
Please what is going on? It is a matter of configuration? Am I mistaking in some procedure?

Unfortunately I have to keep an eye on the CPU, I hardly have traffic upsurges but I’m stuck with a cheap host for now :/ Newspaper theme is stellar but needs resources ofc and I already have other robust plugins like qtranslate-x, events calendar or woocommerce, so everything helps until I move to a better place or maybe host the server myself. For now I’ll just try to make the most out of available optimizations, and most are yours Chris! many thanks btw! I had no time to implement everything yet but I had some good readings and learned more thanks to you.
I like VC and the pages it lets me build but a “deploy mode” sounds like something that should be a given. I don’t have many pages nor build new ones that often so VC main job for me is to render pages. VC doesn’t have to handle the biggest portion of the site’s content (articles) but handles the most important perhaps, the homepage, so efficiency in rendering should be important I think.

I’m usin the homepage template with article list as homepage. I’ve inserted an ad script as content, and it works fine on the first page. But when I go to the others pages (page 2, 3…) the ad content doesn’t show. There’s a way to insert this ad in all the pages in this template?

Please disable all plugins leave just Visual Composer active, clear cache and check again if you still have this issue. I have checked your site and found this js error in console – http://screencast.com/t/9HobsyP6Ir Please disable also js/css minifications.
Please test your pagespeed https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ and try to fix those errors. You can find out more about this in our documentation – https://forum.tagdiv.com/page-speed-guide/ and also Christopher topic help – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tutorial-chriss-custom-optimizations-for-functions-php-etc/ Also please disable unnecessary plugins.

I have a problem with share icons on mobile: when you click to share on homepage, it seems they open, but like they’re under layer of something – right before “latest articles” section. On the image you can see what happens. How to fix it?

We have a query. We would like to upload the ‘original’ social media icons rather the current ones made available by our template.
The current default ones(visible top right corner of our homepage) are not the official icons. Is there anyway we can upload the new(latest) ones and disuse the default ones?
It would be of great help because the quality of the design on our site is in the details 🙂

Finally I managed to find a solution with a nested wp query inside the page template…
I would like to ask you something else.
1. Is it possible to disable the link on the title of only one (not all of them) block on the homepage?
2. On category pages I see this: <meta itemprop="author" content="geopal">
I want to replace content=”geopal” with something static even for the other authors. How I can do it?
3. And the last one: Is it possible to trim the excerpts that appear on category pages?

But my question wasn’t about the Post but rather – how to insert an image/a photo so it comes as background behind the posts in the homepage post template ?? I already saw how to insert a normal background, but it’s not working to insert the picture for this template.
