Hello.
I have just purchased and installed Newspaper 6.
When I go to Pages Add New I enter a title, and click on the blue button BACKEND EDITOR The Visual composer bar comes up and below that the Page Template settings.
In the Visual Composer bar the left icone is a rotating circle. It never stops spinning and the composer does not come up.
I have followed the instructions at https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/ and still the same problem.
I have installed Newspaper 6 but not been able to do anything in it.

It is not a caching issue. We have explored that possibility carefully and caching is currently turned off.
It looks to me as if the frontpage uses another header template than the other pages, i.e. it uses parts/header/header-menu.php while other pages use parts/header/top-menu.php and the code is slightly different. So perhaps there is some issue with header-menu.php which makes it not recognize the menu…?

Using Homepage blank you can use a block to display articles from a specific category, but numeric pagination won’t work on blocks, only Next/Prev, Load more, Infinite load pagination work on them.
The only way to have a similar look like category template on a static page is to use Homepage with articles list template(you don’t have to use pagebuilder), like already Marius suggested, set the category and the module to display articles.

Thanks for replying, I had read some of your previous posts regarding similar issues and have tried resaving the widgets and modules. The sidebar is actually there, it’s just at the bottom of the main content. It seems almost like there is a html/CSS error somewhere that’s stopping the content from floating. I’m totally stumped.
On the installation guide it suggested deleting the entire Newpaper theme, which I did prior to installing 6, I also ran the script on the welcome page.
I’m no coder or web wizard, but it almost feels like there is some missing </div> somewhere in the template files that’s breaking the theme or maybe VC is just not functioning as it should for some weird reason.
Did you do the dbase update tool after update? That should convert most of the shortcodes.
Some things are CHANGED, and you will need to redo them no matter what. It’s like a new theme, not an update. It’s totally different code, with some overlap for consistency, but not the same them as v4.
You will need to tweak your sidebars, widgets, menus, homepage — sometimes just “resaving” them will fix it; in some cases you will need to adjust things like the search template from v4 no longer there for search results page, etc.

If set, this setting overrides the Theme panel setting from Post settings > Default post template.
You can use this method to set a post template on all cpt pages.

Not sure what is the issue in subcategory page. You can change the category template for each category(even it is a subcategory), so if you don’t want to use style 8 in your subcategories you can change it – http://screencast.com/t/Kca9D6xXA Please provide more details what are you trying to do.

The issue may come from a plugin. Try to disable all plugins, enable only Visual Composer and check again.
Next i suspect some of the html used on your custom page template may be broken, this may cause the admin bar not to display. Check all code again and see if there are any errors.

I observed the post single pages and categories are well designed with nice templates. How can I get a nice looking static page template for About us with big fullwidth banner. And how can I integrate revslider to inner pages. I have about 10 static pages and I want fullwidth banners headings for them. Thanks in anticipation.

Just bought this great theme, but I have one problem: Can’t find a way to remove the post views from the Slider that came with the page templates. I really need to do that because the view count it’s wrong, and also I don’t want to have it.

Since I changed the template to Newspaper, randomly, I look that the images of a post doesn’t shown, only load the text, the sidebar and head images and the blank space of the post images. Be given to refresh the page to be loaded.

When I go to my drop down menu and select a main block it drops down a list of categories. When I highlight the category and pull up that page the top has an error that reads this:wp booster error:

Digging around it looks like there aren’t any sliders in the theme anymore.

If I could post an image you could see that these three blocks are in a table with two columns.
Also, it looks like when upgrading Visual Composer the template that I created for all the pages I was created is lost. So this pops up in a section that I created in Visual Composer in one of the columns ( [td_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_1″] ).
This was done because there wasn’t a way to create a custom column on the pages I need a custom sidebar.
This is on my personal computer so there is no way to give you a link.
Digging around on what is lost looks to me like I am hosed and will have to start over. Which totally SUCKS

I just updated the theme to the latest version and it looks like template is missing.

The feature to put a page in a menu ist great, but on some pages it is broken.

I can find no similarities between those pages on which it doesn’t work. On some articles it works fine, on some not. Same template, same style, same everything. Really weird.
Same is on category pages – on some it works, on some it doesn’t.

You need to use the Homepage with article list. To add content after the pagination you need to add it manually in page template php using do_shortcode https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/do_shortcode/ and add your content created from VC.

Did you made a custom template for the author page? the page should look like this – http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/author/admin/
The issue may be caused by cache, if you use a cache plugin try to delete it (sometimes the cache is disabled only if you delete the plugin) and see if the issue is still there.
If you made modifications on the theme code check those modifications to see if there’s something which may alter the author page look.
