You need to delete some of them..you only need the A opition on the top…and active that also all those CAME need to be removed as well you only need one…

You only need one MX as well delete the first one..
and set the (priority 0) make sure in ur cpanel on ur host it’s set to 0…

I’ve check ur source code and cloudflare is not active as yet on ur host..check those settings i posted above…

After you set up the DNS settings in cloudflare then you need to go in cloudflare settings and set those as well..

1. Performance settings:: (CDN + FULL Optimization),

First you can only used one at a time may be u could used the plugin and removed that code and see which is more effective…

Did you put ur server Ip in the field for the A opition so that cloudflare can put they Ip to urs..

Here is a setup in cloudflare..DNS ZONE

1. Type A
2. Name (YOURSITENAME)
3. Value (Host IP)
4. TTL (Automatic)

If ur site direct traffic with out a www…

Then this setting is important..

1. CNAME
2. Name WWW
3. Value (is an alias of YOURSITENAME) WITH OUT THE WWW
4. TTL (Automatic)

Hey Steven, think I solved this.

Look:

the nameservers are already changed in my CP at df.eu

But:

I had to deactivate “On CloudFlare Traffic will be accelerated by CloudFlare” for this:

Type A and Type AAAA

P.S I already have the strings remover installed, but not working because I added this to the functions.php

Hey @Cherry yes you have to change ur host nameservers to cloudflare ones,to change the nameservers u have to go in ur host DNS settings and look for there name servers and put cloudflare ones ::

First point: the thing with the strings – what can I do here?
I activated in my plugin : Remove “?ver=XXX” part from URL (still not better)

And the Bad Request : 2 of them are deleted pictures… I asked google- but couldn’t find instruction to fix that! The Pictures are deleted from FTP – what else can I do and how exactly? (explanation for a dizzy blonde please! 😉 )

Yes…. follow the suggestions found in this sticky topic.
1) make sure you have proper expiration headers
2) make sure you have gzip/deflate running on your server
3) use the speedbooster tagdiv plugin
4) use an image optimization tool (e.g., smushit, or similar) and/or set compression level in your functions.php file

Use GTMetrix to see anything you need to fix except for minifying the CSS and Java; if you wish to minimize that you can do so using the tips I’ve included for using CSSminifier, etc.

However, expiration headers, cache control headers in htaccess file, and gzip/deflate running on your server are good for 20 points of your problem and will get you into the 85 range once you solve that.

I’m running the PageSpeed Insights and receiving a terrible result. On desktop im receiving a 65/100 – and I wanted to point out a lot of is has to do with ‘CSS’ (same with mobile). Hi, if you look at the page speed sticky topic, my settings for mod_pagespeed I’m using with theme are found there, along with my htaccess TTL/expiration settings and robots.txt file, etc. 🙂

Basically mod_pagespeed can strip out all comments, and remove spaces and double line breaks. It doesn’t make a 300 foot long single line of code, but big whoop on that; it’s doing it on the fly and caching stuff, so not going to complain 🙂

I would not combine the CSS or JS files, since what if a specific function module is looking for site.js and you combined that with something else, it will break — I think the config that Radu and Co have done, along with their speed booster take care of a lot of that. You would kind of have to experiment on that one if you want to try to combine things.

Thanks for your suggestions Chris, I’ll probably minify the js and css files manually and then replace them but what about combining? Is there something out there for this purpose too?

And I would like to hear more about your mod_pagespeed html minification, may I try it out if you share your codes. 🙂

What I do is use the links found in my posts under the page speed topic, and just manually minify the main style.css file, and main .js file.

E.g., for CSS:
cssminifier.com

for JS:
http://gpbmike.github.io/refresh-sf/

basically paste the main style.css file into the minifier, then copy and paste the minified version back into the styles file and then upload/over-write main one on the server. Takes 2 minutes. Done.

If you read the other sticky on speed by “Steven”, he has been using a minify plugin that seems to work.

In my case mod_pagespeed minifies my HTML, so don’t have to deal with that. I then use cssminifier to optimize the main css file.

Since I have to do couple of hacks to my functions.php file, and switch on the author name on posts, home page modules, and swap out the field name for view counter to our existing field with EVERY update, it’s not much more work to do the CSS and JS minify on main couple of files each time as well. No plugins needed 🙂

And, another option – if you use GTMetrix to test your site … they can actually spit out “optimized” versions of stuff for you, which is cool.

Just as an anecdote on minification:
minifying the main style.css file will take the size from 286kb to 204kb, as savings of about 80kb, which is actually quite a bit.

Objective

where we ran into trouble was the “onscroll” feature, which hides things until you scroll down, which would seem to make sense, but with the earlier version of Newspaper, we’d basically scroll down and the images would be too lazy and not load at all !

Now, both the theme and mod_pagespeed have been updated since last time I tried this, so it’s on my to do list to revisit 🙂 I would have gotten back to this, but was really sick for 3 months, and only now getting back to ‘normal” and waaay catching up on stuff. 🙂

Thx @ChristopherSimmons, all images are already size optimized. Problem is first page load since we have a lot of new visitors.

Has mod_pagespeed an own option for lacy loading images?

We experimented with various lazy loading things; however we ran into issues on home page (this was possibly back on Newspaper 2x, btw), and some other things where sometimes certain images didn’t load at all due to the lazy loading timing out for some things “below the fold” … if your host has mod_pagespeed you can play with that, but there are also some plugins as tomdouble noted above. Be sure to test if you have lots of images; if you see “empty spots” when running lazy load, you might have to do without.

Note with proper server side caching, the images should be cached on first load and then future visitors get cached copy, so perhaps not that necessary. Worth trying if you think it’s slowing down page. Be sure to try running smushit or modifying the functions file to reduce image thumbnail sizes first, as that in combination with caching usually does the trick.

not really; and it’s not that big of an issue technically.

one of my sites which has this “warning” has a pagespeed for desktop of 97, 91 for mobile, and 85 for mobile UX (no CMS used; all hosted locally).

To give you an idea how funky that “suggested” fix actually is, with the first version we got warning of “only 54% of your page could load to render blah blah” and had pagespeed of 91; we changed around some stuff, got pagespeed of 97 but now says “only 1% of your page could load … try to fix render blocking ….”

Well, 350k page with 1400 DOM elements, loads in 1.3 to 1.6 seconds, has pagespeed of 97 desktop and 91 mobile. SO, big whoop.

If your speed is above 91/92 and you still get “suggestion” for render blocking, you can likely ignore it. It’s pretty hard to get a higher speed with a complex WordPress news portal which has bootstrap 3 as underpinnings.

So, it’s usually best to work out EVEYTHING else first, then if all you have left is “render blocking blah blah” … then you can get on with your life.

To get maximum speed you have to massively optimize your content, figure out how not to load any external stuff from social media, google, etc. — tricky.

This may or may not work for you with this theme; but general settings from a blog called online media masters, and I’ve seen the same settings elsewhere would be as so:
