I think it has dropped now for everybody.Your results had some screenshots showing high scores, but mine is completely 71.
edit: it’s not a problem for me though, the theme is fast enough.
@nihar105479 here is things you need to fix,and you can find in my sticky post help to fix some of them.
1.Remove query strings from static resources >>> there is help in my sticky post to fix that.
2.Optimize images >>>> get the plugin EWWW Image Optimizer over at wordpress to fix that issue.
3.Inline small CSS >>> Use cloudflare and they will fix that for you and a lot more.https://www.cloudflare.com

I keep telling users use cloudflare to help better Optimize there site,if they take my tips and put them in action there site be fast and score better..there is a lot of tips on this site use them and you will see performance.

I’m having a heck of a time trying to increase my page speed with this theme.
I don’t know if it is the images or banner ads but I barely break 70 on Desktop and 50 below on Mobile.

I know it makes the test on server-side, thanks for your interest. Can you or anyone also let me know about my REAL pagespeed score? I have just installed a plugin called jQuery Colorbox and tried to edit speedbooster to not lose my high score.

Also, YOUR browser should have no impact on using a testing site like PageSpeed Insights. When you use pagespeed insights, Google connects from its own servers to your site to test, NOT from your web browser.
Weird. Try using GTMetrix.com and see how that works as an alternative for your site. Forget about the demo, that works – nothing to do with YOUR site.
For your site, try the GTmetrix.com test … it’s a little bit more liberal than Google, and gives you a better “average” experience, using Google’s API, just not as strict.
The weird thing here is that when I get to browserling.com and type that pagespeed check link, it is okay. It shows 99 or 98 whatever…
But from my browser if I test, the score decreases to 71.

The demo is 98/100 user experience and 99/100 speed on mobile
and 99/100 speed on desktop as of 1:22pm PDT June 18, 2014, today.
Not sure how that is considered “going down.”
You will need to address the issues from Google Pagespeed Insights for YOUR site/server setup to get the best score. Using GTMetrix for scoring is sometimes more useful to showing the things needing fixed with better tools for doing so.
Sharing a link to your score info would likely be more useful?

To make sure, I disabled speedbooster and checked my score then re-enabled and did it once again, but it seems as if it had no effect on pagespeed although it still makes everything move to the footer as it should do.
Can you please check the link too to make me see if it is something personal or not?
Many folks do. We’re using speed booster, APC, and mod_pagespeed with server side caching on our system right now. Be aware of the recommendations in the theme docs regarding setting up a cache plugin.
I noticed that we can edit a lot of things such as colors and fonts in the admin area of the theme.
Is it more efficient for pagespeed to edit the CSS directly, or does the admin panel automatically edit the CSS? I assume it’s just overriding the default CSS with a new CSS which seems more inefficient… I don’t mind getting into the code, my top priority is to make my site as efficient as it can be.

Did you made some modifications to the theme? Please disable any minify plugins or mod_pagespeed or other host accelerators, the html/css structure of the theme is wrong.

Ironically, many of the theme updates are to fix issues with added features requested by users.
Disagree with some of these:
most people don’t look at weather on websites anymore since it’s on their cellphone. 5-10 years ago this was popular… now? Not so much.
If you have your breaking news on homepage, category page, tag, right side of each post, a news ticker now is a bit gimmicky unless you have breaking news every 5-10 minutes. 99% of major news portals no longer have this.
Full search bar – many people don’t search “on” the site anymore; and MOST designs for websites have gone to the search only appearing when clicked (NY Times, LA Times, etc.)
“Readers” start on home page. Anecdotal visitors come from search engine search, not from searching on site.
Just my thoughts. All of these “bloat” elements really slow down the site, page load, pagespeed, and most have to be removed for mobile, so, not super useful to most people.
Comments based on our news portals online 15 years, updated daily. Your mileage may vary.
PERSONALLY: I would like to see an update to ensure all the underlying elements are 100% up to date and 100% solid for a newspaper theme, and would like to see the author element on by default on post pages which is industry standard practice – this is more important to us than more bbpress, woocommerce, supermenus, etc. Speed, reliability, consistency.

I’m using this plugin as well and it really help removed the rest of those files in render-blocking CSS and JS files.

Here is another awesome plugin that every one should have install it’s called “Query Strings Remover” i’m using it as well and it works great.
What this plugin do is remove the query strings from your static resources like CSS and JavaScript files to help improve your cache performance and overall score in Google PageSpeed, YSlow, Pingdom and GTmetrix.

Main “trick” is clearing cache, turn OFF any cache, turn off anything like mod_pagespeed running for your hosted domain (if applicable) – before you do the upgrade.
Normally you should simply be able to replace all the files in the
/wp-content/themes/Newspaper

I’m actually working on getting my development blog back online.
I have been sick since first week of May with norovirus (stomach bug), which is finally going away. But I’m massively behind on everything due to not being able to concentrate as much. Friend in NJ had this bug for 4 weeks; another friend’s daughter had it for 6. I am almost at end of week 6, and not quite right….
It is my intent to republish all my various WordPress tutorials in one place for all to see in a concise manner, but allow some time on that please 🙂
