Hello,

I use 5 “post loop” block on my category page model.
I choose different options for “Limit post number”, “Offset posts” and a “post type” for any post Loop block.
But on the category pages of my website it’s only the 2 same posts for any block. Why ?
I cleared the url and browser cache. No change.

Hi,

You can use the Flex Block or posts loop and customize it as you want -> https://i.imgur.com/hgP0ZE5.png

Also figured out:

IF YOU ENCOUNTER THE INFINITE LOOP IN SINGLE POSTS – HERE IS THE SOLUTION:

When you are in TagDiv on your website, top left you click on “Manager” then “Settings”, then “Articles auto load” -> OFF

Have a great week

Hello,
The numbered pagination can be used only on posts loop and posts loop 2 elements, the flex blocks do not have that option.
Thank you!

Hello,
That is the “Posts loop 2” element and it’s a special element for categories, tags, authors… this filters automatically posts on those.
What you need to do is to add the flex block element 1 and adjust the layout to look the same (filter it fi is the case) and after that remove the posts loop elements.
Also, only the posts loop elements have the n numbered pagination option.
Thank you!

Hello,

The forum questions are available only for the members that have an account on it and this can be made on using a license key.

Unfortunately if you have a pro demo installed the theme panel options will not apply on it, it can be edited only using tagDiv Composer, and this is not so hard after you do it a few times.
I will show you how to do it, first edit the page or cloud template using tagDiv Composerhttps://i.imgur.com/YzFXqaU.jpg then select the block you’ll like to add the pagination and in “filter” tab you’ll have extra options- https://i.imgur.com/n2DTTeg.jpg. This is what you need to do for all blocks where you’ll like to have a pagination, the only difference is that on posts loop element the option for pagination is in general tab not in filter – https://i.imgur.com/qLUMKtZ.jpg

I hope this will help you!

Thank you for answer.
As I reported earlier, the offset field is worth 2. I have on the page 2 loop posts.
1 Loop post – Offset posts: empty
2 Loop post – Offset posts: 2

But they look the same after posting.

I have the latest update of the theme and plugins.

Thank you.

I tried Flex Block 1 and Flex Block 2, but they did not seem to respond to any search requests. Then I tried adding a Flex Loop Filter element above the Posts Loop, but choosing any of the different options did not have any impact on the listing of the results. I must be missing a step somewhere.

Hello @thelansingjournal !

Please try to add a flex block instead of posts loop and see the changes.

Thank you!

Thanks Bettina, your answer led me to find the Search Template I’m apparently using, in my Cloud Templates. The only Search Template in play is Search Template 40 – Pandemic Pro, so I opened that with tagDiv Composer. On that page I can select the Posts Loop element and see the Sort Order option in the Extra section of the General tab. It was already set to -Latest-, so I didn’t make any changes. Glancing through the other tabs, I don’t see anything else that might impact what results I get or how they are displayed (other than appearance options). Should I try a different Search Template altogether?

Hello!

A shortcode means the element Flex block or Posts Loop from the TagDiv Composer.
So, the element Flex block with a special filter, for example, the current category, will dynamically display the posts from the current category depending on which one you are in. So, you need to add a flex block with that filter in the category template once, and it will display the posts for each category if you have the same category template assigned to your categories.
You can use a flex block with a special filter instead of a big grid. Set an offset to the posts loop of how many posts display the previous element, the flex block.

Thank you!

im not sure if i described the situation well.

so basically i have category X and category Y.

when you visit eg the category page for category X, i have a ‘big grid flex 1’ at the top of the page that is set to show 5 specified posts for category X, and then underneath that i have a posts loop to show the remaining posts for that category.

I want to do the same for category Y, – so i want 5 specified category Y posts in the big grid flex at the top, and then the remaining category Y posts in the posts loop below.

the posts loops are working fine and are only showing posts from the correct category, however the big grid flex and the title at the top (the title being ‘FEATURED CATEGORY X/Y) are the same on both categories, and if i change one, it changes on all categories to be identical.

so what i am trying to do is:

when you click on a category, tag, or search for a term, i want the results page to have a ‘featured posts’ section at the top, that is unique to that results page.

i created a layout on tagdiv and applied it globally, and found that whenever i edit the ‘featured posts’ posts loop element, it would apply the changes to all results pages.

so instead i created a duplicate of my global template, and planned to apply that to the categories that i want a unique featured posts section for, and my global template can just apply to all other generic categories, with generic featured posts.

as far as i can see, to have a unique section on each one, id need to create a duplicate template for each category/tag, and then add that as necessary to each results page? however this could become messy if i do it for tags too, as there could be so many tags that id have a crazy number of duplicate templates.

is there no way of applying one template to all categories and tags, and then just editing the filter on the featuring post loop for that specific page… and it not applying globally?

thanks

Hi,

You can customize the category template. For the category template, please use posts loop; if you have set a posts loop then will display all posts in this category or you can use Flex Block/Big Grid Flex and set the filter to “Category -Current category” => https://i.imgur.com/7P99qx0.png and this is why the block will display posts for each category. So, please check the settings.

Thank you!

Hi,

The Posts Loop automatically filters the posts depending on the cloud template you set (for example on the category page there will be posted posts from that category).

Thank you!

But how do we get the posts loop block to only display articles within the category? I don’t see a filter option.

If one doesn’t exist, do you have a suggestion on how to display ads within a category?
