Stupid thing about it, is the og tags are expressly there for Facebook to be able to grab the image.

Worth mentioning you need to ensure your robots.txt file isn’t blocking the /uploads/ folder or other folder if you renamed yours (I renamed mine as I hate “uploads”).

I used to have that problem. I installed this plugin, which is old but still works perfectly fine (as recently as yesterday): https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-facebook-share-thumbnails/

Ive found the same thing recently. Never used to be an issue. I have found a workaround by using the Yoast SEO plugin and directly uploading an image for each post under the social media sharing tab.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you know that I’ve added share counts to the plugin and it looks much better now:

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hello,

And thanks for all your replies.

The above line of code: <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_social_sharing();?>

Is exactly what I was looking for.

However, the placement (http://screencast.com/t/hh4HA0OjgWAC) is not where I wish for it to go. I am looking for right above the content, as shown here: http://s11.postimg.org/j2vpcwjc3/Sharing_Above_The_Content.jpg

Where would I have to input that code now?

I assume I will have to change the following files you have red-boxed in here: http://screencast.com/t/H1cP82hF7EE

AKA -> loop-single.php, loop-single-1.php, single_template_2.php, single_template_3.php, single_template_4.php, single_template_5.php.

Thank you.

Try this link from Facebook, enter your post page URL in box,
https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

if you get “502” error, it may be the firewall blocking issue, and you’d likely want to contact your web hosting co. about that.

We have to unblock our CSF temp files manually about once a month for stupid FB port scans!

Facebook just works that way as their bot gets overloaded; or your server is blocking them, or any of a number of things. I deal with this issue every day; in fact today, to post two news items to our page, I had to manually copy the headline, first paragraph, and manually upload the photo from my PC to get a proper post on Facebook for a new item. Stupid. And all the og tags are in place, right down to advanced tags like image format, height, width and optional https link to image. Still, hit or miss. And this happens with our custom site, Woo Canvas, Newspaper, and another theme. All somewhat randomly.

Suggestion: try to submit item later. Or, if in panic, do the post manually as I did.

Downside to a ‘free’ service like Facebook, there is nobody to complain to our get support from on their end. It’s basically haphazard.

Right now, one page is causing 502 error according to their debug tool… but every other social media site works, even LinkedIn and Stumbleupon, Pinterest, Twitter card with large image support, etc.

Just let your client know it’s nothing to do with the site. Both Google + and Facebook both have intermittent issues of “grabbing” the content due to how busy their servers are (basically the “fetch” is timing out in some way); or in some cases your hosting provider’s CSF/firewall has blocked Facebook for “port scanning” (FB scans your server port for Geolocation on every post to try to locate where your server is; if you do a lot of posts, eventually, your server blocks them for doing this with 30 different IP addresses; and you have to clear the CSF temp block rules to get the stupid FB bot to again be able to read your site!). Stuff like that!

are there any recommendations or anything that I can do? My client is freaking out over this. Anything that you can do to help is much appreciated.

Thank you,

It’s an issue with how Facebook sometimes ‘scrapes’ content from your site, and more often when the “featured” image is outside of the actual “post” area. It’s a known issue, with FB, and comes and goes. It’s not specifically theme related. Meaning, they don’t always read the OG image tag like it’s supposed to.

I’m having a problem on my site with trying to share articles to facebook. Instead of using the featured image, it is grabbing images from the side bar. This is a real problem for this site. Can you please help?

Hi,

@GosuSama

As Christopher wrote you will have to add this line:

<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_social_like_tweet();?>

..to the post template you are using, like this: http://screencast.com/t/H1cP82hF7EE
Result: http://screencast.com/t/hh4HA0OjgWAC

Thanks

Can you please add a Print Button with style sheet at the end of social sharing buttons below posts. It will be really useful for magazine sites. Newsletter is purely a magazine style theme so you should conside it. 🙂

Further, please provide us a guide on how to use Custom Fields and CPTs properly in this theme.

Thanks

I use AddThis to put the social both above/below the post, but some people have also taken the code from the loop-single.php file (or whichever post template you’re using) and cloned it to above the post block.

I think it’s this code in loop-single.php (based on theme v 4.22):
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_social_sharing();?>

Hi,

I’m trying to use the Facebook/Google+/Twitter like/share/tweet ABOVE the content (as well as BELOW). Currently it is set default BELOW the content, and I like that, but I also want one above the content. Is there a shortcode I can enter, or a line of code to insert somewhere that can help me achieve this?

For clarification: http://s11.postimg.org/j2vpcwjc3/Sharing_Above_The_Content.jpg

Here is somemore tips on what can give you a very bad google pagespeed score…

1. Ads (Google,amazon, etc) Ads really put a slowness on ur site that’s why i don’t use any ads on my site what so ever.

2. Sliders make ur site look very nice but they make ur site slow as well and i don’t use any sliders on my site.

3. Social sharing Bottons is something every one want on there site to get more traffic,but there is a lot of social sharing plugins that make ur site very slow because they don’t render correctly also they not coded good,if you want too use social sharing bottons on ur site my advice is to use the build in theme sharing bottons are find a good coded social sharing bottons like what i done that you will not even notice there even on ur site when it’s loading.

Recommendation from me for social sharing plugins as follow…

4. Ultimate Social Deux plugin i’m using on my site it’s coded correctly and very lightweight and look very nice on ur site with out slowing ur site down, in this case you will have no issues what so ever on ur pagespeed.

This plugin is not FREE you can buy it from this URL http://codecanyon.net/item/ultimate-social-deux/6556073

5. A lot of unnecessary plugins can also put a lot of stress on ur site speed and server and make problems with ur theme etc,try to find a plugin that have many things in one,in this way you cut down the total of ur plugins also the load on ur server.

6. A good hosting company is the main factor of a good google pagespeed as well,some people will go for very cheap hosting to save money but they don’t get what they pay for,some cheap hosting don’t care about ur speed etc so before you pay for any hosting make sure you know what they giving you and if there good are not.

My site is hosted with the same company that i’ve host my radio server and domain with and they give you more then your money can buy..they called “Listen2myradio.com” i was with them for a few yrs now and i never had problems what so ever with them and my site and radio always up 99.9%..

My hosting company give they users the max on every thing with they hosting packages which will make ur WP site run smooth with no issues with speed..

PHP Memory Limit: 256M

More tips coming soon..

Yes, just checked your file and the problem is in the context — you forgot to wrap the new code in a <?php> tag. Hence it’s being treated as HTML. Your whole file should look like this:

<?php
/**
 * The single post loop for post template 1
 **/

if (have_posts()) {
    the_post();

    $td_mod_single = new td_module_1($post);

    //show the breadcrumb
    if (get_post_type($post) == 'post') {
        echo td_page_generator::get_single_breadcrumbs($td_mod_single->title);
    } else {
        echo td_page_generator::get_page_breadcrumbs($td_mod_single->title);
    }
    ?>

    <article id="post-<?php echo $td_mod_single->post->ID;?>" class="<?php echo join(' ', get_post_class());?>" <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_item_scope();?>>

        <header>

            <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_title();?>

            <div class="meta-info">
                <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_category();?>
                <?php //echo $td_mod_single->get_author();?>
                <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_date(false);?>
                <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_commentsAndViews();?>
            </div>
        </header>

        <?php if (!empty($td_mod_single->td_post_theme_settings['td_subtitle'])) { ?>
            <p class="td-sub-title"><?php echo $td_mod_single->td_post_theme_settings['td_subtitle'];?></p>
        <?php } ?>

        <?php
        // override the default featured image by the templates (single.php and home.php/index.php - blog loop)
        if (!empty(td_global::$load_featured_img_from_template)) {
            echo $td_mod_single->get_image(td_global::$load_featured_img_from_template);
        } else {
            echo $td_mod_single->get_image('art-big-1col');
        }
        ?>

        <div class="td-post-text-content">

// When you have all your tabs, close the elements

// We have to filter the whole string to make WP interpret the shortcodes
$to_echo = wpb_js_remove_wpautop($to_echo);

// Do whatever

?>

        </div>

        <div class="clearfix"></div>

Hello,

Is it possible to use a different menu for the mobile menu, rather than sharing the same one that the desktop is showing?

I know it’s possible to define a different menu in ‘mobile-menu.php’, however when the desktop is using Mega Menu, changing the defined menu this file stops the Mega Menu from working.

Many thanks.

Max

I tried to implement as per your instructions. Please check this screenshot it was with the_field.

I don’t know where i am making a mistake. I again changed the code to get_field and it still remains the same. Here you can see it.

Here is the full code of loop-single-1.php in which i am inserting.

<?php
/**
 * The single post loop for post template 1
 **/

if (have_posts()) {
    the_post();

    $td_mod_single = new td_module_1($post);

    //show the breadcrumb
    if (get_post_type($post) == 'post') {
        echo td_page_generator::get_single_breadcrumbs($td_mod_single->title);
    } else {
        echo td_page_generator::get_page_breadcrumbs($td_mod_single->title);
    }
    ?>

    <article id="post-<?php echo $td_mod_single->post->ID;?>" class="<?php echo join(' ', get_post_class());?>" <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_item_scope();?>>

        <header>

            <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_title();?>

            <div class="meta-info">
                <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_category();?>
                <?php //echo $td_mod_single->get_author();?>
                <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_date(false);?>
                <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_commentsAndViews();?>
            </div>
        </header>

        <?php if (!empty($td_mod_single->td_post_theme_settings['td_subtitle'])) { ?>
            <p class="td-sub-title"><?php echo $td_mod_single->td_post_theme_settings['td_subtitle'];?></p>
        <?php } ?>

        <?php
        // override the default featured image by the templates (single.php and home.php/index.php - blog loop)
        if (!empty(td_global::$load_featured_img_from_template)) {
            echo $td_mod_single->get_image(td_global::$load_featured_img_from_template);
        } else {
            echo $td_mod_single->get_image('art-big-1col');
        }
        ?>

        <div class="td-post-text-content">
            <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_content();?>
		// Set up your row, column, and tabs element
$to_echo = '[vc_row][vc_column width="1/1"][vc_tabs]';

// Repeat these lines for each tab, making sure each tab has a unique id

$to_echo .= '[/vc_tab]';

$to_echo .= '[vc_tab title="The second tab" tab_id="tab_2"];

// (You could wrap each block in an if to skip a tab if the data is empty)

        <footer>
            <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_post_pagination();?>
            <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_review();?>
            <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_source_and_via();?>
            <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_social_sharing();?>
            <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_social_like_tweet();?>
            <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_next_prev_posts();?>
            <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_author_box();?>

            <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_item_scope_meta();?>
        </footer>

    </article> <!-- /.post -->

    <?php echo $td_mod_single->related_posts();?>

<?php
} else {
    //no posts
    echo td_page_generator::no_posts();
}?>

I think the code is not executing. Am i placing it in the wrong way?
