Hello,
We always try to improve our theme as much as we can on every update. We will add more and more post styles and blocks and modules with every major update. This is one of our goals, to offer as many options as possible so the user can chose from a large amount of features, but this takes time and effort and cannot be done quickly.
Thank you for your suggestion. I will add this to our list of updates and pass this information on to the dev team.
thanks.

Hello,

Unfortunately this update from such an old version will be like switching to a whole different theme. Lots of things have changed in the meantime.
1)
a. You can turn off the slider animation from the lazyload setting: http://screencast.com/t/1e7GmiXoK3r
b. You can use this custom css to remove it only from the big mkodule:
.td_module_mx9 .td-post-author-name{
display:none!important;
}

c. The images are to blame here, not the grid itself. You need to regenerate your thumbnails using the “force regenerate’ plugin
2) Unfortunately the gallery format was removed so if you have double images n your posts, you will either have to remove the doubles by hand or use post style 5 which does not display the featured image.
3) This is the position of the pagination in the current theme. Please check how it should display on our live demo here: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/
4) Unfortunately the article titles in modules and blocks can only be changed with css as the theme has no option to change their color. (you can change the active hover color from visual composer block settings as seen on our demo homepage.)
You can use this code to change the titles:
.td_module_wrap .entry-title a{
color:blue!important
}

I hope this helps.
Thank you!

OK, thanks. I understand this question.
I have a request: do you have the opportunity to consider and submit to the plan for the future updates of the theme is another style (very modern and necessary) for the main page and posts?

Here are some examples:

post page: http://joxi.ru/LmG8bZRsRvNpX2

or see here: http://tsn.ua/ and http://tsn.ua/nauka_it/rozrobniki-z-google-stvorili-motoroshnogo-dvonogogo-droyida-ta-poznuschalisya-nad-nim-597812.html

Best to update theme via FTP, as the Envato updater breaks on a LOT of sites. Not fault of theme.

You can get the “latest” bundled version included with the theme license, from the “all files” download for the theme from ThemeForest, in the /plugins folder. You can’t update to “latest” release of the plugin automatically as you don’t have a license for the plugin, only the ‘bundled’ free license, which is updated with theme updates as it’s proven safe and fully compatible.

Hope that helps.

Big Slider - topic

Hello there,

I hadn’t updated my version of Newspaper since v3 – eeeek! So there’s been a lot of frantic editing of my site tonight. A few queries are still hanging over me though.

1. The Big Slider on my homepage: http://citysavvyluxembourg.com/
a. How can I turn the hover option off?
b. How can I get the authors off on the big slider big pic
c. how can I get the big slider to stretch the dimensions of the main pic into one of the three side pics?

2. In version 3, a ‘featured image’ needed to be 745 x 484, but it would then be cropped to 700 x 357 in the article. This would cause me issues as some important parts of the picture would be lopped off. To get round this, I would use the ‘gallery’ format which would take away the ‘featured’ image for that post; and add in another image so the dimensions were corrects. The trouble is, the ‘gallery’ format doesn’t take away the featured image in the new version so I have lots of posts with two images!! Can you help?

3. The pagination on the modules used to be in the top right corner (see ‘galleries’ on the home page’). Now it is at the bottom left and easily missable.

4. How do I change the colour of the aticle titles within each block? So ‘Farewell Madame Ambassador’ should be in blue on the home page for example?

Sorry for all the questions. What a nightmare! Will teach me to look after the IT myself – I had no idea it hadn’t been updated until a 5pm panic!

Hi Team

I have updated the newspaper theme to 6.6.5 automatically using Envato Toolkit.
But i see this notification in : appearance -> theme

Broken Themes

The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.

Name Description
Newspaper Template is missing. Delete

Do you know how to fix this?

One more, where can i download the newest js.composer.zip to upgrade the visual composer to 4.1.0?

Thankyou

Adi

I have updated the CSS as you suggested. The black bars still appear. As I mentioned previously, this video plays and appears without the black bars on other video players.

There are no black bars included in this video file. And, they should not appear in the post. How is this resolved? This is one of the standard 4:3 ratios.

Thanks,

Hello,

1)Fort the first issue, we know about this bug and it will be fixed in the next version.
2)For the update from version 3, unfortunately the post views function was changed along with all the code so it this is likely to happen. It is like switching to a whole different theme.
3)The featured video option will not work on any parallax image post styles (3,4,6,7 and 8). It will work only on post styles 1, 2 and the video formats 9, 10 and 11. There is a notice about this here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image-or-video/
4) You can use the wordpress custom fields if you want an extra field: https://codex.wordpress.org/Custom_Fields
5) There is a solutioon to add the updated time https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/how-to-add-last-updated-time/ We already have this on our suggestion list
6) We do not have AMP support for our themes yet (we have not tested it) but one of our veteran users (Chris) made a tutorial on it here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tutorial-getting-started-with-accelerated-mobile-pages-amp/

I have added your suggestions to our list (the ones we did not yet have) and passed them on to the developer team.

Thank you for your message and suggestions!

Hi

Our developers works at the next theme update but I can’t say for sure how much time will pass until will be finished. My advice is to update at the current version available on themeforest, V 2.3.5, if you didn’t do it already.

Thanks!

BUG (Tested in Chrome latest, 1366×768, Example page: http://inserbia.info/today/2016/01/serbian-police-vs-arab-refugee-children/):

– Header Style 8 (Hybrid menu 2) – When sticky menu is turned on, when user scrolls down and sticky menu appears, the mega menu is floated left instead center. Also, default logo space size (i think it was 250px) goes over first menu item and prohibits hovering/opening of associated submenu.

– After upgrading (Newspaper 3 to Newspaper 6) and turning on Ajax for page view counter, all page views reset to 0 views (30K+ posts). It is not big deal for me, but still … Example page had 50K+ views.

IMPROVEMENT:

– There should be a notice (maybe there is a one but I didn’t saw it) that users cannot start video in video post if default post template (site wide) is set to Style 7. Currently, only featured image (video grab) is present but there is no video file to watch (upgrade from Newspaper 3 to latest). Check example page.

– Changing default post template for all posts and single post is great, but how about changing default post template category based? I.e. I really like Style 7, but it is not good for my Video category, so I want to change ONLY in category “Video” to be default post Style 1.

– There should be 1 more field added for posts (where source, via, … is) and that is Photo credits.

– It would be nice to have (on frontend) for each post: Date and time published, date and time updated, click to get shortlink (if shortlinks are enabled).

– Add AMP support for mobile resolutions.

PERVERSION:

– Add HTML5-based Text-To-Speech library so we can have “Read me!” button on front.

Hello saggel,

I have checked your fatal error description and saw that you are using version 6.2 (v62) of our theme. Please try to update to the latest version of the theme. Before doing that, please make a full backup of your current installation – https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups and then do a clean update, meaning that we recommend that you delete the old version of the theme before uploading the new one – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ update also the plugins that come bundled with the theme files from the /plugins folder. After your update, check again and see if your error appears and let us know if it persists.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the message!

Hi

We certainly plan to extend the theme flexibility in the future updates. I’ve added your suggestion on our list and when the time comes our developers will consider it. This may take some time because we have a long implementation list and we take them one by one.

Thanks for your suggestion, have a nice day.

Hello,
Unfortunately these types of customization require editing of the core files. There is no other way. If there is no option created by the developers for something you require, it will have to be hard-coded. Even if you edit files in a child theme, it will not be update proof. If the file you edit in the child theme gets replaced in the main theme, you will have to replace it in the child theme as well and re-make your modification. There is no customization method that is update proof. Code gets changed in an update. If you do not replace your file, your update will not work as the old code cannot get replaced. Sorry, but there is no alternative at the moment. Hopefully in a future update we will add alt tags to every featured image so you will not have to edit the files.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thank you!

FYI:
Noticed today all my theme licenses for TagDiv Newsmag and Newspaper have indeed “expired” for support in the ThemeForest system, which I’m guessing actually happened March 1.

However, I can still download all files without issue, it would appear.

Will have to see what happens when TagDiv pushes next theme update(s).

Got no email about TagDiv themes support extension or ‘what to do’; only one email regarding one of the other themes I have (might have been a plugin, actually).

If I click the link to renew support, the rate is $14.70 for 6 months. They did also fix the issue where one can now renew *one* support license vs, say (I think I have 6 licenses?) all of them or nothing, which was the case a month ago when I looked, which was offputting. So, that’s not too awful at all.

So this means that it’s not “not affordable” for folks to help support TagDiv adding new features, WP compatibility fixes, plugin updates, etc.

(in case anybody was not up to date on this — there you go!)

🙂

Only mentioning in case anybody else not watching the skies on this topic.

Hi
thanks for very kind words … gingerbread cookies accepted in my tip jar!

I have *not* had time to mess with the FB plugin as I’ve been embroiled mentally in working with something for our main business site using a custom theme setup, and integrating the YOURLS plugin with our system, the XT breadcrumbs plugin (which works better for us since the install is inside of a directory), and helping to debug some issues with the new AMP plugin from Automattic (one of my bug reports will likely be in the next update, which is the bug of not working when the wp-content directory is renamed). SO, been having to deal with all of *that* and this particular project doesn’t use any comments at all and never will, so….

I will circle back around to that eventually, but the AMP support has been far more important than comments right now on our main news sites, since Google rolled that out on Feb. 24. (See my other ‘thread of doom’ on that!)

Hello drae,

Please try to update and your child theme that comes bundled with the latest version of our theme when downloading our package from ThemeForest. To each theme update, the child theme it’s changing and could cause some errors.

Thank you for the message!

Hi,
I will add this suggestion to our update list and hopefully we will be able to fix this in a future version.
Thank you!

Unfortunately, I don’t want to add core files as we will have multiple people performing the future updates. Because 508 compliance is a must, I may hide that template for the time being. Are there any plans to implement alt/title tags for featured images on the rest of the templates? I had to manually add them on every template that did not use $td_mod_single->get_image('') for the image.

Hello,
Unfortunately we have no clue as to what plugin you use but you need to replace it if it is not compatible with our theme. (maybe the plugin had an automatic update and the new version create issues, or another plugin updated and creates a conflict with your avatar plugin) Please try to disable all other plugins except visual composer and your avatar plugin and check if it works. If it does not, then you need to replace the plugin.
You can follow this guide to see how you can set up your author card: https://forum.tagdiv.com/author-card/
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you!
