I’d like to implement a “Portfolio” section similar to the one shown here: https://demo.tagdiv.com/select_demo/newspaper-prebuilt-websites/?demo-type=pro — with selectable category filters (as on that page: Popular – Paywall/Membership/Directory/Listings – RTL – Shop – Multipurpose – Blog – Magazine – All).
Following (or try to follow…) your documentation, I installed the Custom Post Type UI and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) plugins, but I’m having trouble configuring everything correctly. Is this the recommended approach to build a Portfolio in Newspaper? Alternatively (preferably) are there built-in options or third-party portfolio/grid plugins fully compatible with Newspaper that would let me achieve this without custom coding or complex configuration?
Thank you.
Alessandro
Hi Alessandro,
Our page from here https://demo.tagdiv.com/select_demo/newspaper-prebuilt-websites/ was custom-made, but you can achieve something similar, for this you can use the Flex Loop Filters – https://forum.tagdiv.com/filters-sorting-taxonomies/ and Flex Loop or Flex Loop Builder.
Another method is to use a block (anyone you like or you can create your one block and modules) and use the ajax category/taxonomy filter https://i.imgur.com/BoCzGHQ.png
Thank you!
Thank you for your reply, Calin.
What I’m looking for is a solution that adds a dedicated “Portfolio” section to WordPress (alongside the default “Posts” and “Pages”)—exactly like what you see in the attached image. That type of structure is quite common in many other WordPress themes.
I’ve read online that one possible way to achieve this is by using “Custom Post Type UI” along with “Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)”, but this method seems a bit complex and time-consuming.
Do you recommend a faster or simpler approach to achieve the same result using the Newspaper theme?
Thank you in advance!
Hi,
Indeed, this can be done using ACF and CPT. This is the most recommended solution because you can add all the settings you need. We have a few demos using those plugins – https://demo.tagdiv.com/select_demo/newspaper-prebuilt-websites/?demo-type=directory
Othere solution is to use a plugin that provides a portfolio:
