I suppose I am looking for a block which has an option to actually run a post set in Post ID filter in a column on a page rather than doing an excerpt. While still using all the blocks down the side. I know I can post the text into a “column text” block but I’m perhaps being too fussy.
Perhaps this is because I don’t know how to get “Latest articles” and other blocks into the side bar of a post… I guess that would work.
thanks
Hello!
For cloud/PRO templates: you should add the sidebar from tagdiv Composer. Steps:
1. Add 1 row
2. Split into 2 columns( 2/3 + 1/3 )
3. You can add whatever you want into the second column and consider it a sidebar.
Take a look here in this video for example where I build 6 columns: https://www.screencast.com/t/mZ2c5XamTFN
Also, you can add a flex block with one post: https://www.screencast.com/t/lMTepr9Uwc
Let me know the results!
Thank you!
Hi Bettina,
Looks like we are talking at cross purposes. I have already done some inner rows, etc on pages.
Let me rephrase:
1. TagDiv Blocks, as I understand it, only run on what WordPress calls “pages”, not “posts”. Is this correct? Does it apply to shortcodes?
2. Posts display articles posed to them.
3. But supposing it was possible to choose a block, on a page, whose purpose was to do a display similar to what the “Column text” extended shortcode can do? All you do is set the post ID in the filter, and in view, it runs the article.
So that was my first suggestion. The client’s current CMS does this.
Second, in my second paragraph, I was asking about what WordPress calls “Posts”. I can’t get a side bar on my posts. Not looked into this thoroughly, I’m sure it is somehting simple, but when i can, I’d like to get “latest Posts” into there somehow – yet my understanding is that blocks don’t work in posts…
Hope this is clearer. Many thanks!
Edit – OK, I’ve now added widgets to my side bar on my posts via the dashboard widgets section, and added a flex block, to display the latest posts. So I’m happy with this. It does not seem to observe the excerpt length setting, and then I see this seems to be the case everywhere – I alter the excerpt length from the default 25 to something else, but the length of the excerpt shown does not change. Possibly a bug?
Hello!
1. The flex blocks are working on every cloud/PRO template. Doesn’t matter if it’s a post or page. But, we have special shortcodes for pages and posts too.
2. The posts means articles. So, you can call them as you like.
3. In order to avoid misunderstandings, please provide more information about what you need to achieve, screenshots or a video.
A solution for sending a screenshot/video is this:
Download, capture, send: https://www.techsmith.com/jing-tool.html
After making the screenshot, you will have a link, paste it here.
We recommend to use cloud/PRO templates in order to have the possibility to edit them with the TagDiv Composer which contains a lot of functions and features, please check our tutorial here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
Documentation here:

You can customize the excerpts in the theme panel : on words/letters: https://www.screencast.com/t/EROolW6hTSk0
If you edit a post and add a text as excerpt manually (in the excerpt box), the theme will show that text unmodified and uncut: https://www.screencast.com/t/FuTeApMmXgH0
Thank you!
