http://www.funkmeyers.com/ is my website! It’s now up using Newspaper. I get a C on YSlow and was wondering if anyone has some tips that could help me improve. A lot of the stuff like loading a lot of JS and loading stuff not-in-the-footer I thought was taken care of by Speed Booster so it makes me think maybe I don’t have Speed Boster installed??

HI, if you have the tagDiv speed booster plugin installed, it will appear in your list of plugins 😉
You can find it in the full download from Theme Forest for the theme (the folder with all the extra stuff like docs, psd bits, etc., in the “plugins” folder).
With Yslow, you’ll never get a perfect “numerical” score unless you load SOMETHING off a CDN someplace as they seem to think everybody should do that, even if it’s not faster for some stuff. But GTMetrix will “explain” why the score is what it is in detail. But you can still get an “A” for fixing everything else where possible. 🙂
It might be helpful (*HEY MARIUS!*) to add something to the docs for the theme install, perhaps on the ‘how to speed up website’ section, that spells out WHERE the plugin actually is – even though most folks SHOULD have looked at what was in the folder for the theme (ahem) before installing the theme.

this pre-supposes that the user knows how to actually find the plugin to begin with. So, might be worth noting WHERE that actually is in the zip package.
Actually, a “recommended” and “included” plugins list might be useful, especially since, for example, for those of us who upgraded from v2 to v3 — what of those original plugins are still needed? Is the animated GIF plugin still needed? It’s not included with v3, so not sure?
This might be also useful since you’re now going to break out the visual composer as plugin.

We haven’t changed anything about the require plugin from V2 to v3. The GIF plugin is not included in v3.
About the Visual Composer the problem is a little complicated, because we need to deliver our custom and modified Visual Composer as a plugin, we still investigate this.
