I deleted 8.7.5 and installed 8.8, now I’m getting white screen in Firefox and HTTP ERROR 500 in Chrome. I tried 2 times with the same result, then rolled back to 8.7. Please take a look what could be causing it.

You could first check the theme system requirements panel

In some cases insufficient WP-memory caused 500 errors, increasing it solved the problem. Also check if the required PHP extensions are enabled, especially mbstring. Let us know. Once you make changes if required, attempt to update again, by FTP

The composer and social counter should update automatically, if this does not happen for you, update them manually.
If you use a child theme, try to temporarily switch to the main theme and then update. Let us know what you find.
