Installing a Demo on site with existing content – will our site content be lost?

Had a look for this answer and read the documentation but it’s unclear

We didnt really want to have to do this but our old theme is no longer supported and has now broken with WP 5.5.1

So we have purchased & installed the NewsMag theme on an EXISTING website with 1,000+ posts, with the intention of applying the ClearVoice example.

I can see its possible to install the demo with or without demo content.

What I want to know is will installing the demo (either with or without content) wipe all our site’s existing content – posts, pages, images etc?

And if yes, it will be wiped, is there another way to apply the a demo theme without having to painstakingly rebuild it bit by bit to try and match the layout etc?

Thanks.

Hi EdWest,

If you do not have a demo installed and the one that you’ll like to install is ClearVoice, then there will be no wipe of content, usually this is when you already have a demo installed with content and you edited the pages/posts (content from that demo) and after that you want to change the demo -> https://i.imgur.com/R0jGIrE.png

Hope this will help you!

Thanks for the reponse, that did work however the site looks nothing like the demo. Even after tweaking the settings I cant get this home page layout to look like Clear Voice.

Have set the Home page to “posts” but the template options, none look like Clear Voice when applied.

Did you made some changes in the demo or something that can change it ?
Please let me know the steps you made to install the demo and what you did.

Thank you!

Just followed the instructions. The demo install worked fine but I had to adjust all the settings to get the layout to look more like the demo.

How do you get the Home page to look like a Category page which is what the demo looks like? Tag all the articles with a “Home” category as well as their usual category?

Hi,

For me I just installed this demo with content and is look the same.

To have on homepage a look as on category page you need to edit it with tagDiv Composer -> https://i.imgur.com/ubDBNQi.png use right click or drag and drop to remove the element you do not want on the page, after that add the element like gig grid 2 -> https://i.imgur.com/vorYF0N.png after you set the grid and removed the elements you do not need -> https://i.imgur.com/GHE7RWu.jpg save the page and open it in WP editor, then set the page template like this -> https://i.imgur.com/2evHjep.png
The results will be like this -> https://i.imgur.com/n69MY1r.png

Hope this will help you!
Thank you!

OK maybe the reason your setting of the demo and mine looked different for the home page is that yours looks like a static page built with your tagDiv Composer and my home page is set as the blog/posts, so the actual “Home” page doesnt exist. Now that I created it, I can make it look like your demo using the tagDiv Composer.
Thanks!
