Wordpress tells me I should update to 7.4, currently I”m using PHP 7.3, does the newspaper theme support PHP 7.4?

Are you sure about that? Just 2 weeks ago Calin said in this post: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/your-site-is-experiencing-a-technical-issue/ to use php 7.2 or 7.3 with Newspaper 10.3.5 and NOT php 7.4
Even in your own requirements here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/ it says that php 7.2 is recommended, I just want to be sure that I don’t break any functionality if I update to php 7.4

Always when a new version comes up we imediatly update for it. Indeed our recommendation at the moment in 7.2 or 7.3 But since 7.4 Has been launched I am 100% that a lot of customers already updated and also we did and couldn’t find any issues.
If you are in doubt but still want to try the update you can ask you host to help you with a full backup of your site and then you can try it and see.
