Hi
Many newspaper sites have separate ‘boxouts’ a large square box, normally distinguished with a separate colour, that contain supplemental information and can have it’s own title. An example can be seen on this news site here.
I know that the Newspaper 7 theme allows box quote centre, but is there a way to create a boxout with it’s own title and colour?
Hi
You can try to use tabs element from Visual Composer: http://screencast.com/t/05i5GOkzULE – http://screencast.com/t/8bzmJ8Ncu
Let us know how it goes and if this is not what you mean please provide more details about what you’re trying to do, also a screen pointing the desired result would help.
Thanks!
Hi.
As requested, here are two screenshots from the tech pages of a newspaper website
DailyMail.co.uk with side boxout
DailyMail.co.uk with large boxout
As you can see in these examples the boxes each have their own headline. They can be coloured. And they can be positioned on the side of the page or a full width box and include images within.
In tech, and in all other articles they are great for sharing extra supplementary information. They also make the page easier to read and attractive.
Is there is an easy way to do this with the theme, or is it a feature that could be developed? It would be amazing as it is a core design feature of magazines, and by extension, magazine & newspaper websites.
Thank you! 🙂
Hi
You can use theme’s blocks to achieve a similar functionality. For each block you can set a background color and the rezult will be like here: http://screencast.com/t/oJYmLSVJWx7 – http://screencast.com/t/lpOiW9bmmTh
This is just a basic example but you can customize it i many different ways in order to achieve the desired result.
Thanks!
Hi,
I’d like to try this out too. However, the “design options” tab is completely missing from my block settings as shown in http://screencast.com/t/lpOiW9bmmTh
Hello,
This feature was only added in later versions of our theme so please update your theme by using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ and then also update visual composer: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
Thank you!
