Newspaper Theme (Speed)

The speed of my website is ok on a desktop, but very poor on a mobile.

I’m not currently using the mobile theme, will this increase the speed of the site?

I don’t want AMP pages enabled, will using the mobile theme automatically start using AMP, or can I use the mobile theme without enabling AMP pages?

The mobile theme and mobile page are faster than the responsive version of the theme.
