That would require you to have the version 7.7 in order to update to 7.8.1 that way. Each update contains changes to different files and parts of the theme. One update can modify one file and the next other files.
You can try updating using this guide – https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ which is basically the same thing.

Unfortunately only the latest version is available for download, so you should try to update through the guide provided above. You can always make a backup if you are reluctant to update, in case something should go wrong.

I understand what you are saying but there were too many files changed in the theme, from the version you are having at the moment. There were I believe 5 or 6 updates in the meantime that you missed, with many major changes. That is why it would be best if you download the latest theme package and update the whole theme, and the bundled plugins as well.
