while wordpress 4.8.1
use jquery / 1.12.4 / jquery.min.js

I have made some deeper investigations at my side with the latest themețs version and the jquery version is the same as yours, as you can see here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/coucs0tdcfiA Please notice that currently, this is the jquery version used on our theme.
