Hi There,
I’ve been having trouble with TagDiv composer plugin for months now.

It deactivates every few days, breaking my home page, until I notice and reactivate the plugin.

I’ve tried deactivating all other plugins that I can in case of incompatability, but it doesn’t help.

Please can you help?

Many thanks

Strange behaviour. If you can, try to make some backup or development site and check does the same thing happen there. Also, check your logs and switch off automatic updates. And check that your Newspaper theme is properly activated.

Another thing to do is, uninstall TagDiv Newspaper theme and then install it again and switch TagDiv composer on.

Hi manbodyspirit, @Edragon indicated almost all the steps that should be used to see if the problem persists. What else I can add is to be sure that you have the latest version of the theme, 12.4, and if you have a child theme, do a test without it (possibly without extra plugins that are not tested).
Thank you!

Thank you both,
I checked and I am indeed not using the latest version of Newspaper. I’m still on V9, not V12.

Is there a quick, easy, cost effective way to upgrade to the new version, or do I have to just buy a new version of Newspaper 12?

Many thanks

Hi manbodyspirit, what you need to do is to set the staging or subdomain and try there the theme update. Also, you should do the update via FTP/cPanel and you’ll need to do make a full backup for the website and database, and only after that update the theme.
The steps are:
1. Download the Newspaper theme from your themeforest account and unzip it.
2. Set the theme on maintenance mode.
3. Disable the tagDiv plugins and delete them.
4. Using the FTP or cPanel delete the current theme and set the downloaded theme from the themeforest.
5. Connect to the dashboard website and go to Newspaper > plugins and install the plugins you have from the theme (tagDiv Composer, tagDiv Social counter… those plugins that were installed), also it will be need to install the tagDiv Standard Pack plugin to keep the current layout.
6. Macke sure that the theme is activated – https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-6-how-to-activate-the-theme/
If everything is ok, then you can disable the maintenance mode.
The theme settings are saved in database and those will not be affected during the changes.
I hope this will help you!

Has this issue ever been resolved? I’m having the same problem where the plugins deactivated themselves practically every single day. Upgrading to V12 absolutely destroyed my customer’s site to where I would have had to rebuild it completely from scratch – no thanks. I rolled back to V9 where I had a backup and now still have the plugin issue.

Hi SR20DETg20girl, if you updated from v9 than it will be need to install/enabled an extra plugin that doesn’t exist on your current version, this plugin is tagDiv Standard Pack to bring the old layout back.
Also, it depends on the WordPress version you have, extra plugins, host settings and many other parameters, but the problem can be identify and we can help you to resolve it, if you agree, then make sure that you have a complete backup for the website and database, only after that update the theme manually using FTP/cPanel and replace the old theme version with the new one, after that update the theme plugins from Newspaper > plugins and also install the tagDiv Standard Pack plugin.
Another important thing is to have set the theme requirements – https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Also, if you made the update and the problems persists, pleas contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin and cPanel access.
Thank you!

Hi,
Yes, I followed the instructions and the settings all meet the requirements, but the site still was destroyed upon upgrading so I had to roll it back to the old version to keep my client happy.

I will be emailing you in a few minutes with WP admin and cPanel access.

Thank you for your help! 🙂
