Tech Demo

Greetings fellow Newspaperers,

I am rather new to WordPress, and I have this issue where my site and the WP-admin is lagging badly. It takes approximately 20s to 5 minutes to load each click.

Example: I click on Appearance > Themes. It takes around 1 minute to load. I am unable to do anything productive.

Here is what I have done so far:

Reinstalled WordPress via my cPanel.
Reinstalled the Newspaper theme.
Deactivated the Tech Demo.

Reinstalled WordPress again. After this it was fine. Each page takes no more than 5 seconds to load.
Reinstalled Newspaper theme. Still fine.
Activated the Tech Demo with Settings only. Lag starts again.

Deactivated Tech Demo again. Lag persists. I am trying to remove the lag.

What should I do? Are there any files in my public_html that I can remove, or manually delete to remove whatever the Tech Demo has done? Thanks in advance.

Also, I keep getting this message: Connection lost. Saving has been disabled until you’re reconnected. We’re backing up this post in your browser, just in case.

Please help. I have Googled several solutions. Tried some of the non-technical ones but it does not seem to be working.

I managed to get a fix using Google Webmaster Tools. It took me 12 hours to troubleshoot everything, but my score on Google went from 23/100 to 90/100, which is good enough.

Hey Bogdan, I got an issue with the “remove render-blocking css”. It says in your tutorial to add a script to the functions.php file in wp-admin. But I don’t have that file. I have enabled “show hidden files too”.

Any ideas?
