I am running Newspaper 11.5.1 and PHP 8 on the server
I also have a hard time installing theme updates – it takes several tries – and I don’t know if the two are related

I do not use the wordfence or sucuri plugin
I have disabled all plugins and that did not solve the problem
I use cloudflare CDN but through my host Kinsta – I do not have access to the cloudflare
I am using Newspaper 11.5.1 and the prebuilt website “newspaper”

My host (Kinsta) said “You should be able to disregard that ?
ModSecurity is generally something you’ll see on Apache based web servers – Kinsta uses Nginx actually. We don’t use ModSecurity ?”
What do you suggest now?
My host provider says this is a memory issue

I tried bumping up the memory to a higher threshold and it did work, but I couldn’t leave it at that threshold ?
Hi, my host provider did this and that has temporarily solved the problem. Something is consuming too many resources – but I disable all of the plugins except for those needed to run the theme, and the problem continues, so the issue must be in the theme ?
Kinsta says:
As a courtesy, I can temporarily add this value to your wp-config.php file to mitigate the fatal error:
define( ‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘512M’ );
and they say:
“On your current plan, the hard limit for PHP memory_limit is only 256M. Your site’s theme panel requires higher than that. You may wish to consider upgrading the plan for more resources. Though you still need to reach out to your web developers and review the APM data to optimize those high ajax requests.”
and Kinsta has added: “Your current plan has a hard limit of 256M for the PHP memory limit. We can leave the define( ‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘512M’ ); since it can be added on your config file. Also, As 256M is a high value in most cases, it likely means there is a setting misconfigured within your plugins/theme. and reach out to the theme developers to optimize those ajax request moving forward.”

Normally, if you only use the plugins in the theme, you could only use 256M, maybe you have other plugins that require large memory. Please let me know what plugins you have.

Hi – here are the plugins I have. It’s odd because up to oh a week or so ago I didn’t have this issue. I don’t know if an update on some plug-in caused an issue or not.

So there is a possibility that this problem is caused by memory, as you and the host noticed after increasing the memory limit.
