I am trying to update my site theme from Newspaper 4 to Newspaper 6 using the Method of Updating atomatically outlined here ; https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/.
I have done the following steps;
Step 1 – Download the envato wordpress toolkit from here: https://github.com/envato/envato-wordpress-toolkit
Step 2 – Upload and activate the envato wordpress toolkit plugin (.zip file that you downloaded).
Step 3 – Get your new api key
Step 4 – Go to Envato Toolkit Menu and add your Themeforest Username and the API Key that you generated from your account in the required fields. Save your settings. If you have problems with the update check Skip Theme Backup checkbox.
But I am stuck on how to do the following steps;
Step 5 – Update the theme.
Step 6 – Choose Activate the theme.
Step 7 – Update the plugins. The theme required and recommended plugins are included in the theme package inside the ../Newspaper-tf/plugins folder.
Tried uploading the new version but no success and I cant find the new version of the theme even after I had synced it with my account.

Newspaper 6 should be regarded as a new theme, that’s why we recommend to make a clean install(I recommend FTP method) and make sure that no files from old version will remain there. Please note that in version 6 any customization(to the theme files, custom css) from old version will not work and you will have to re-add them.

In the “how to update” guide is specified that you will have to run the script that will import from database your settings, will change the shortcodes. Unfortunately you will have to re-add your widgets in the sidebars as some of them may not be imported or don’t exist anymore, also they will become inactive.
