How do we update to Newspaper 10? I’ve been having all sorts of issues with page speed and I was hoping that Newspaper 10 would help increase speed. (yes, I followed the instructions to adjust the settings on the server)

How to update from News Paper 9.8 to News Paper theme X. I have recently installed the former and building my pages yet.
I would like to know this also. I am afraid the theme settings will disappear if I update. That has happened to me before. What is the right way to update so my settings will be save?
I tried to update, but when I upload the new files I get an error saying: the folder is exists. So I installed an other template, activate and after delete a Newspaper9 theme and then installed the Newspaper10 files, it was succesfull and when it finished with the update the website looks like then earlier. So it was easy and now the website is much faster.

The proper update procedure is to delete the old version of tagDiv theme and plugins and upload the new one. Overwriting the files will only cause errors.

All the informations ( layouts, posts, etc) are set up in your database. Your database will not be affected by this.

I used the “Envato Market” plugin to update. It’s work !
After you have to activate the “Standard Pack” plugin, or your website will display the shortcodes on the frontend.
But Instagram still d’ont work, even with the access token…. 🙁

@Nitneuk, Standard pack is made to work with older version, you can deactivate it and install Default PRO demo and it will work.

I just have a red block “Instagram Gallery” instead of the Footer Instagram Section. I use the instagram account access configuration in the theme setting but it does not change anything.

The best way to delete the old version of theme and plugins just delete the corresponding folders via FTP manager.
But before that, it is to create copies (backups) of them on a computer or hosting in a safe place.
How do I know which plugin folders are part of the theme and which ones aren’t?
@Vlad S Please let we know we need to deactivate the plugins and theme before deleting it. Or We can just delete the theme folder and plugins and just upload the New update.
Please guide us on This part.

@PlasticDan Descriptions in the documentation are a little late due to the release of a new version of the Theme. Wait for the official response from the developers. As long as you can read here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-how-to-update-a-plugin/

That link talks about updating a plugin though, I am looking at updating the theme. Also, I looked at that guide, but the guide shows a button that says “Install/Active Plugin”, however, that button does not show up in my dashboard: https://ibb.co/k0SJTzq
Hi Vlad, I don’t what you just said is true. At least it’s not universally true. We have designed our site using the version 9 and TagDiv Composer. So even if we load the Default Pro demo design in, if we deactivate the Standard Plugin, all we see are the shortcodes on the screen. How do we go about updating the site so that we can take advantage of the new speed functions of Newspaper X?
Will we have to redesign the site all over again?

how to upgrade latest newspaper theme without losing website data and setting.
Had the same surprise when you switched off Visual Composer and i had to work 2 months for fix everything.So before updating i’ve tried on the staging version of our news website with high traffic, a lot of templates, more than 354.000 articles, completely optimized for speed, with a good ranking on google.
It will take months of debugging for have it back to normality, and in the meantime the speed with this Standard Pack it’s completly gone and so the rankings and the time and money we invested in the website.
What’s wrong with you TagDiv? I’m not going to switch to X cause this will take the same time to switch to a new and more stable template.
It will be nice from you to set a real SMOOTH Transition to this messy update.
In the meantime i’m searching for a plan B.

Updates mean, and especially big ones like this transition from 9 to 10 can be a bit tricky and again, we are sorry for that.
First of all, the proper way to update the theme is via ftp or wordpress. You have to deactivate and remove the tagDiv Product ( Newspaper Theme & tagdiv plugins ). Don’t worry your data won’t be lost because all the informations that are on your website ( theme option, posts, etc) are stored in the database of your host.
! Important ! As a web developer I’ve learned that everytime you make an update, no matter what theme you use, what plugin or no matter how small of the update is you MUST have backup and a test site ( local host, live host, doesn’t matter ).
– The Standard pack: A pack that has the functionality of ” keeping alive ” the layout that have been until 9.8. Without standard pack you will have to move on the PRO layouts. The pro layouts DO offer greater speed. Also speaking of speed, a page speed is influenced by multiple factors like ( plugins, content, themes, etc. ) so sometimes you should not have great expectation of page speed if your website is for example full of videos who request urls from external links…
So if you want to have the website like before and do no changes on the design you will have to use standard pack.
