Video Embedding

I’m trying to embed a video from my Vimeo account. It embeds in the post fine.

But, on the homepage within a block, the URL appears as text. I don’t want the URL to appear. It looks bad. I’ve tried a shortcode and same thing happens. The shortcode appears as text on the homepage.

Here’s the homepage. helpuconquer.com It’s in the left-hand column and the post is test 1111.

When the video button is clicked, the post opens and the video can be played. But, how can the URL be removed from the block on the homepage?

By the way, how would I set this video to autoplay?

Trick with videos is to ensure you put some kind of summary in the excerpt box, so that this gets loaded onto modules, at least that is what we do over here 🙂

We know about this issue and we still looking for a possible fix. To avoid video url being displayed in excerpts you need to add the excerpts manually in this field: http://screencast.com/t/WH5eNruDU0jm

In the backend of posts there’s no excerpt field. I’m running Newsmag 2.3.5.

How do I get that excerpt field to dislay?

Never mind. The field needed to be enabled in the screen options.

Hi there. I’m a new website owner so totally new to all this. When I embed Youtube or Twitter into the left column of my home page, the url shows and runs into the main center column. I saw this thread and attempted to find the excerpt, but when you embed a twitter or youtube block you do not seem to have an “excerpt” setting. I don’t see anything like “screen options” currently, but it is 5 years later.
