Hey there, so I am using godaddy and have a firewall. Whitelisting my ip address solved my problem. I figured that out by opening the javascript console in developer tools in Chrome. Thought I’d share here. Thanks.

I am having this same issue. I am coming from Newsmag because of a glitch. I have compared my system settings to your requirements list.

Ok, emailed you. Thank you.

Actually I ran more tests and the conflict is in fact happening with the theme. Does anyone have any ideas?

nevermind

Hi Bogdan,
Thank you for your response. I tested with MAMP and you are correct. The settings stay when I do a theme update so my issue would lie within either the WP install on my live server or a corrupt database as you said. Thank you! I will contact my hosting company for support.

I have this issue every time WordPress runs an update. As soon as the new update goes out, my theme settings and widgets are lost. This is crucial to me as we have a reputation as well as analytics code to rely on within the theme settings. I need to know of a permanent fix. I am using Newsmag v 3.3.1 and wordpress 4.7.3.

Actually, I went into my theme and changed some settings there, then cleared my cache and it when back to normal. It was weird. Sorry to bother.

I think this is a priority of high importance.

Can I place 404 in my child theme and just edit the code?

Can we child theme woocommerce files? I have more changes I need to make to other files.

Hi Andrei,
I was looking for that file and couldn’t find it, but then looking through the folders wanted to add the location: Newsmag/parts/header/header-menu.php in case someone gets lost like me 🙂
Can you explain which lines of code to comment out? It seems like there would be a template calling on this file where we would comment the call to the search on that file instead of within header-menu.php.
