Had same problems. Forced me to recreate the child theme.

Facing the same problem using the child theme after updating to v8.6 and I’ve tried all these tricks but it does not help. Can the newspaper team recommend a fix? Using the parent theme is not an option for me.

I know how to add the font and if you look at my website posts (link in profile) they have the open sans font. What I mean is, the font looks different (like it fades out) on blog fitness demo (like in my site) as compared to local news demo. I just need the open sans on posts, and I don’t know how you made it look different on local news demo.

Go to Newspaper>Theme Panel>Trending Now and write whatever you want to in that box then click save.

Activate the child theme and customize it to prevent your custom css from being overwritten when updating the parent theme. You have two options to customize the child theme. You can use the customize option in the appearance section (I use that because it enables me to see live edits) or the Custom CSS option on Newspaper>Theme Panel>Custom Code> Custom CSS.

You put the wrong ID for your Facebook page. It returns the following error http://prntscr.com/hlbp1w . You need to go to your about section of your page, scroll to the bottom and copy that long number at the bottom and paste it on the Facebook ID section of the Social Counter widget (I am assuming you have inserted the app ID and secret correctly)

I followed step 1 and put several urls to test and all is fine now.

@chris S I did test several versions and they all returned the same problem. Checked the settingsw and HTML source severally and all is fine. This might be a bug like @bogdan says. One of the YOAST guys replied yesterday. Will follow up to see if it is a theme or plugin issue.

@Chris S posted this in their wordpress support forum but it seems no one replies there (ben over a week). I seem to be still having the same problem.

@nicobros. Did you get your answer? I never thought yoast had a wordpress support forum and they redirected me there https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/wordpress-seo. Said they cannot reproduce the issue.

I also have the same problem but it seems to have started with the latest update to Yoast SEO plugin.

Thanks Simion. I actually want to remove the tweet button and also stop its javascript code from loading in the theme. Will removing that line of code do that?

Sorry. My host advised to use www version. Icons working now except telegram for users who are not logged in.

Changed back to www from non-www and still the icons show in something like Chinese.
