I was at one point running into this as well, not sure why but ended up going with disqus as my commenting system and the problem was solved with less stress on server.

Ok on that same page I gave you… if you click on the twitter picture it goes to next page and does not just pop up but I have the settings and want not the way you say.

I have that enable already so that featured post imgs currently do pop up the way I want… I am curious if I can some how make it to where even text img links within posts and manually entered imgs in posts can also pop up the way featured images do instead of loading to a different page… Example here: http://goo.gl/MB6OYJ

I updated to the 2.2 version and am still seeing the pubdate and time W3 validation errors on post pages… I would actually like to get rid of the time/date stamp for comments completely. so that like this does not show in the page code at all:
