It’s solved with this solution: Solution

Seems like a simple setting to add 🙂 (I’m a software Architect)

That seems to work without the huge memory setting. The page still loads a bit slow on sites with a lot of posts, BUT… it loads, AND the button shows up.

You guys gotta get this released in the next update.

Thanks for the help. Note that a bunch of my other problems went away with this fix, so maybe tell your support team that this fixes the missing button problem and error 500 loading of cloud templates problem too (It might help others).

Thanks.

I’m pretty syre I found the problem, it’s memory. I made another post here about memory where I can reproduce the error 500 and the missing button depending on how much memory PHP is allocated.

There is an “Add” button in the menu where you show your screenshot, but it adds a wordpress template and does NOT open the Cloud Template library.

I actually just documented the problem in great detail. It’s reproducable:

UPDATE: If I set the memory limit in PHP to 2024M, then it loads without an error. But that’s obviously an outrageous amount of memory. It also takes about 30 seconds to load the page, and I only have ONE template in there…

My site is configured as specified in the link. Clicking outside the editor does NOT save it. Any other ideas?

Media Gazelle
tagDiv Member

Yup, my site is up to date, didn’t help. My site is running IIS, so .htaccess is not used.

Media Gazelle
tagDiv Member

Ah OK, that will probably work, except that every time I update the theme I’ll loose that setting. Could you add it to your configuration UI please so it’s saved?

Media Gazelle
tagDiv Member

Hmm no it’s set to “Default Template”. I’m not sure I can send you admin login, I’m pretty sure our IT manager would fire me… Any other ideas?

Like I said in my followup, this is not apple news related after all.

That didn’t help, tried 386M.

That’a s lot of memory just to make one theme work btw, that could limit my server capabilities visitor throughput.

Followup: This is not Apples News related, but the bug persists as per the debug log above

MAybe this will help?

This is for an empty column, not an empty row.

1) Delete is not available from the menu, see screenshot: Screenshot

2) Pressing delete button doesn’t work.

3) Dragging it doesn’t work either

Media Gazelle

No, it’s set to “default”, not overlay. I also tried fixed, which didn’t help either.

Link: Check out the headline

The Headling “Meet The Meam” is in Roboto, not Montserrat. I’ve changed EVERY SINGLE of the hundred+ dropdowns to try and change it.

Media Gazelle

Yes, I did that. The problem is that THAT HERO is NOT saved.

1) I add a HERO to the desktop version
2) I add a HERO to the phone-view version

3) Save -> ONLY the desktop HERO (1) is saved, the phone-view (2) is NOT saved. See my screenshots.

No, you are still misunderstanding. Look at the screenshot I sent. The problem is not PUBLISHING, the problem is the Gutenberg EDITOR in WordPress require that you set the width. I.e. the problem is in the ADMIN panel, WordPress now require the theme to set the editor width, unlike with older versions of wordpress where it “just worked”.

I have NO problem publishing full width to my site, this is about EDITING.

Media Gazelle
tagDiv Member

Look here, this width is what the THEME needs to set after WordPress 5.0

Screenshot

Media Gazelle

No that’s not what I mean.

When I use the GUTENBERG editor, the GUTENBERG editor is VERY narrow. The way the gutenberg editor work is that it get’s its width from the them. I’m aware that’s a STUPID way to do it from WordPress’ point of view, but that’s what they did. So in order to get a full width GUTENBERG editor, the theme, YOU guys, need to add a setting for that.

One setting Suuuure would be nice!

Media Gazelle

Looks like it might have been WPBakery causing it.

Media Gazelle

Yeah OK. What would REALLY help I think was if you made it configurable to your customers could turn it off to avoid conflicts with other Structured Data Plugins.

Media Gazelle

Thanks.

So I have to create a child-theme, and place an edited version of this file in the same folder location, right?

Any chance you could simple make it configurable?
