Hi dexign,

thanks for your reply. I dont have the pro version but dont mind paying if it will do what i need it to do.

Can you clarify something for me. Reading your reply it would appear that i wouldnt need to use the ads section of the newspaper theme at all (you mention advert pages) have i understood you correctly.

if i dont need to use the ads section of the newspaper theme at all to serve the ads setup in adrotate i am assuming that i can place them in the following positions easily using adrotate only?

header
inside post
footer area
sidebar

sorry if i sound like a bit of a newbie with all this, i am 🙂

Hi Patwire, I have a question abotu using adrotate wit the theme panel ad section.

I’m going to use adrotate to serve up ads in the header area of the website. I have created two groups in adroate. One contains some 728×90 ads and the other contains some 320×100 ads.

The aim is that anyone visiting my website form a desktop / tablet will have a 728×90 ad shown and anyone visiting from mobilw will see a 320×100.

So, i’ve created the two ad groups. Now im looking at the header ad section of the theme panel, and there is one box to enter code into.

How do i crate a conditional statement in the header ad box that will serve up an ad from a specfic adrotate group depending on the device used to view website?

Cheers, are they any good online tutorials (for newbies like me) that will help me understand how to set it up?

Everything is ok now. dumped social warfare and now using the built in share tools. nice styling as well on them. all good

Aha, i’ve just tried to set that up in the theme panel => post settings. I make the necessary changes to switch them on however when i leave the theme panel and return the settings have not “taken” and instead reverted to the previous ones. Do you know why that might be?

Not a problem. Do you have any Social sharing plugins on your recommended list?

Resolved this now. The Social Warfare plugin was causing the problem. deactiveted the plugin and images are showing again. I hope they sort it out though as i paid for the pro version of plugin which i cant currently use 🙁

Thanks Amit. Will that piece of code you’ve posted above replace the existing “related articles” section below each post or do i somehow need to turn that particular feature of before using the code you posted?

Hi Amit. Can you let me know about the css you mention to get this working ok?

Hi simion,

Thanks for your help with this, i think i’m almost there, but have one questionn.

in your explanation above you state

I have tested this myself, first I created a sidebar here for example
https://www.screencast.com/t/XU3aayWpTwn

I had a look at that screenshot you created. and ive visited my newspaper theme panel and i cant seem to find a screen that looks exactly the same as yours.

newspaper – theme panel

i visited

template settings => blog and posts template

and also

post settings => default post template (site wide)

neither of the above two look like the one in your screenshot.

Which particular area of the theme panel were you on when you did your screenshot?

thanks for your reply.

i’m confused about the losing the customisatiosn bit. In the “how to update your theme” instructions they make no mention at all of anything that looks like the info in the article on the wpbeginner website regarding the rentention of customisations.

So, i guess my question is this. If i just follow the instructions on the “how to update” page, am i going to have re-do the whole layout of my website from scratch and all the theme stuff such as adsense and lots of other things?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

sidebars are enabled on my templates so ready to go. (however i dont see sidebars when going to the widgets section of the regular wordpress panel – is this a problem?)

starting with my website homepage, i would first need to create a 2/3, 1/3 look to enable the sidebar to go into the right hand side 1/3?

I can see the widget sidebar option when using the composer. So i would ddrag that into the right hand side 1/3 space first yeah? and then populate the sidebar with the various things i want such as social counter, popular articles etc etc?
