I found my answer. I went into the page and over rode the CSS class located via the Web Inspector.
I got tired of trying to make any of the Demos work with Version 9. I then tried Version 8.8 and still no joy. I am running 8.8.2 in production and it is stable so I didn’t want to touch anything.
I was able to get Visual Composer to work and build up a site from scratch. But any time I tried to load a demo it would not work.
I punted away from Newspaper and attempted to use another Theme, but I found that the themes I was looking at were not as robust.
So…I am stuck building up from scratch since that is the only way Visual Composer and Tag Composer will work and render in development and then render the Page and display it.
There is a particular look I am trying to achieve. I am building a Page. I am adjusting the margins to get things where I want. The one issue I am unable to easily resolve through the Theme Management Dashboard is setting the entire background color of a Page.
I am able to set an image for the overall background of the Site. That is what I want. I create a Homepage and adjust the margins to move the latest articles and Blog Postings down that I set up with Blocks. I need to be able to set the Background color (opacity) to the whole page (which contains the Blocks to render the Blog Posts, which is separate from setting up the Background Image for the Site, there is the Header and the Site Background Image) so that the image is visible.
In short I am creating a Homepage and pushing it down some distance below the Header and Top Menu to get a look I want. The Image is a Book Cover and I want it unobstructed.
Please advise how I can set the Page Background container color/opacity without having to hack the Style Sheets.
Thanks
Again, I created a brand new subdomain.
I install WordPress.
I set the settings so that the System Status is green in all areas.
No Plugs in were installed.
I installed the Newspaper Theme via the Zip file. I did not have to upload the decompressed directory structure.
Via this installation, all the supporting Tag plugin installed.
I only had to install the Bakery Visual Composer.
I then installed the Spa Heaven Demo and all supporting Images.
I made sure that under settings that it was set to Static Page and set the Page to Home.
I went to Pages and brought up the Home Spa Heaven Page.
No matter what I did, the text in all the Text boxes wold not convert to a visual display. I selected Various Template types, and still to Visual. I clicked on Classic Mode.
I click on TAG COMPOSER and received the above previously posted error message.
I then started from scratch again and tried creating a Homepage from the Cloud Templates. Exactly the same results.
Nothing displays on the subdomain web site except a single bar across the top.
This is a brand new, fresh, clean install on a New Subdomain with no plugins other than Tag and Visual Composer.
When I use Visual Composer all I get is text in all the sections. When I switch to TAG Composer I get the error “Error at rows: 12(models) : 1(dom). The model does not match the content”
I did a clean install on a subdomain. Brand new install. System Status check out ok. I installed the js_composer zip file. All the other Plug Ins installed automatically with the Newspaper install.
So, in the Dashboard everything comes up text no matter what I try and TAG Composer crashes.
I tried to use the Cloud Templates and that crashed.
I had not attempted to make any theme settings after I moved to 8.8.2.
I had made theme setting changes prior and they updated.
This is the first time since the 8.8.2 update I have tried to make any theme settings.
Specifically dealing with Custom Ads.
I did make changes to Widgets and they took. But I had to update a few times. These was a few weeks ago. The updates to the changes eventually took so I blew it off. Now after some 10 tries, Custom ads are not updating. I am changing a the image file path and it will not update.
I am running version 8.8.2.
PHP version is 7.0.31
SQL is 5.6.
memory limit is set to 96.
I shut entire system down and still none of the settings on the Theme Panel will update.
If I recall correctly, the steps to upgrade this via FTP are the followup:
1) backup
2) download Newspaper ZIP
3) Unzip which gives you a Newspaper.Zip file
4) unzip the NewsPaper.zip file which creates a local Newspaper folder
5) Delete existing Newspaper folder on server
5) FTP the newly created Newspaper folder to server over writing the existing Newspaper Folder
Steps enumerated above correct?
I am using Style 1. I did not use a demo as a starting point. I built it up from the ground up, however, never touched any footer or header templates. Just dragged and dropped. It is quite annoying.
If you can restore your site then I would follow what I did above. I was able to start over from scratch. You may not be so fortunate. I had to upgrade all the plugins first then moved over the NewsPaper folder.
Can you tell me what specifically this addresses? I have 8.7.1 running. I deleted the AMP plugin and am using Automatica AMP and Accelerated AMP for WP and Yoast Glue and have it all working, yet I still find this solution rather frustrating. The vertical scroll on this AMP for WP implementation is choppy and sloppy in that it moves all over the screen of the mobile phone, but it is the only AMP solution I have found robust enough and that works.
I installed 8.7.1 thinking that TagDiv AMP would be fully integrated, but found it lacking. I finally got a logo onto the header, but it would never center and I could not get the color to adjust. I then attempted to install AMP for WP on top and it completely blew out the site. I deleted it from the Plugin folder and got the site back.
In summary, the 8.7.1 TagDiv AMP implementation I interacted with was weak at best. I punted. I have 8.7.1 installed, but not running any other plug ins and if this 8.7.2 upgrade does not provide some awesome configuration capabilities, I will just stay right where I am at until a release occurs that provides a robust AMP configurator implementation.
With regards,
MOKANA
DO NOT INSTALL AMP for WP as an after thought to see if you can add an image to the Header. It completely blew out the installation. WTF!
Tried migrating back to 8.6. Site completely down now. had backed up the 8.7 and put in back in place.
Video list do not work
Footers blown out. Completely gone. No Category listings. No Editor Picks. No Copy right notice. No Company logo. It is all completely gone but still shows up in theme manager.
Social Counters were gone but I got them back by recycling Composer.
This is a horrible fiasco!
I am punting. This was a horrible experience. First I noticed none of the video lists worked. Then it had stripped out my social counters. Then the Footers stop displaying. I am punting going back to 8.5. This is a day i will never get back.
If you go into the Theme there is an update link there and it does work. The Envato Market plugin does not work other than showing you what you have purchased.
as far as using the Envato Market update process. I have the Theme tab up and the update link shown. I click on it and it does nothing. It shows a link, but it does nothing upon clicking it.
DUPLICATOR was the first approach I tried with the same results. I found the upgrade docs. in the docs I read it stated that after the upgrade, the theme settings would have to be reapplied.
So where does Newspaper store the theme settings? Apparently not in .css. I could find anything in the database.
I am using the political theme. It is the only one that keeps the Revolution Slider tight up against the top. Any migration destroys it but if I reinstall the Political Demo it works, but that install destroys everything else.
Facebook is not working. Please advise. Clearing cache does not work. There are no other Plugins. Others are now stating the same issues.
I was under the impression that only the Facebook ID was required to get the Facebook functionality to work. I watched the tutorials and that was the impression I was left with. The Pages are all Public and have been up for years and can be seen when the appropriate link is clicked-even when logged out of Facebook-demonstrating that they are public.
I have completely blown out the site a few times and each time the same result for anything related to Facebook. All other social platforms work perfectly.
I loaded a default demo fro NewsPaper, installed only the Two Plugins on the Theme Panel-Visual Composer and Social Counter- and still no joy.
Has there been an update to Facebook that broke the Social Counter plugin?
