I tried adding the main auto ads code here like you said, but it doesn’t seem to be doing anything: http://prntscr.com/oltmh9

This code:

<script async src=”https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js”></script&gt;
<script>
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({
google_ad_client: “ca-pub-6446525835717638”,
enable_page_level_ads: true
});
</script>

Yes, the ads work fine on the amp version of articles, but I’m more talking about the mobile version of the site. I have the proper auto ads code in the Analytics/JS codes section that you mention above, but auto ads don’t seem to be loading within articles. The only ads that are loading are the ones I set in the Mobile Ads section manually.

I also upgraded to 9.7.4 this weekend and noticed that if a square header ad loads, there is now a large white space underneath them on the mobile site (I am using the Mobile + Amp setting).

The square ad: https://www.vitalthrills.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/screenshot1.jpg

And the larger ad: https://www.vitalthrills.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/screenshot2.jpg

I also have noticed this, and I’m not sure about the fix jsbjm is mentioning above. Basically, the auto ads from Google AdSense load fine on an ?amp version of a long article, but when you look at the same article on desktop or mobile those ads don’t load. It’s like it’s not calling up the header tag we have to include from Google in the Analytics/JS codes section of the theme panel.

Example page:
https://www.vitalthrills.com/2019/07/08/hbo-august-2019-schedule-cinemax-highlights/
https://www.vitalthrills.com/2019/07/08/hbo-august-2019-schedule-cinemax-highlights/?amp

The code AdSense wants you to put in the header:

<script async src=”//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js”></script>
<script>
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({
google_ad_client: “ca-pub-6446525835717638”,
enable_page_level_ads: true
});
</script>

What are the older child themes that will have problems? I have refrained from updating because of this issue, unless there is a fix.

Calin, I assume you can keep adding ( X== $p_open_tag_count) if you want to add more than just three inline ads in the page?

These are valid Google AdSense ads. You just have auto ads activated on your site. To adjust and pick what you want to display, at the Google AdSense site go to Ads > Auto Ads > click on the pencil (edit button) under Global settings.

Hi Calin, just following up on this one. Thanks.

Okay, take a look now.

Do I leave all or part of Simion’s code as well? I tried just your code above and it makes the sticky menu work, but the logo still overlaps with the menu before the scroll. Then if I add Simion’s code as well, the logo is centered before the scroll, but it overlaps the menu. I’ve left it live so you can see.

Tried that (in iPad Portrait), but in this way it removes the logo altogether on iPad portrait mode and holding a phone horizontally. You can try it out yourself.

I was hoping for the logo to show, but then when you start scrolling down the sticky menu becomes the thin bar without the logo (right now it still covers a lot of area but with just the logo gone).

Brilliant, thank you.

That doesn’t seem to work, that removes the logo from the normal menu as well. Also, I was just talking about removing the logo from the sticky menu on tablets. It doesn’t need to be removed from the sticky menu on desktop and the mobile (vertical).

Is there a way to not show the logo on the sticky menu, so that it only shows the menu? The sticky menu + logo take up a lot of space with the above code. I think it’s fine for the normal menu before you start scrolling.

Thanks Simion!

I have the same question as manish14 as far as tablets (and phones held horizontally). I’m using the same child theme but am using the Style 2 – Multipurpose header.

Hi Colin,

Did you have any luck figuring out how to do ads on the sides of the content?

mparlevliet

Worked, thanks!

My apologies, I’m referring to the search button, not the search icon. The search button stays blue when you hover over it in the sticky menu.

mparlevliet

Thank you. It all seems to be changing, except for the icon hover color for the sticky menu. That’s remaining blue after I change it.

mparlevliet

My apologies, I don’t want to remove the blue line and arrow pointing up. I want to match the colors instead to how the live search box looks on the normal menu (not the sticky menu).

I still have the same question about the hover color for the search button.

mparlevliet

I figured out how to make the top menu black. The only thing left I can’t figure out is in the live search box.

If you scroll down a bit and use the sticky menu and then click on the search icon (the magnifying glass), there’s a blue line above the box that includes an arrow pointing up to the search icon. How do I remove that?

Also, when you hover over the search button, it turns that same blue. I would like to make that a custom red color.

I’m having trouble finding these settings in the header manager after I click on the search icon in the editor.

How would I change the top bar/menu blue color to black like the rest of our site?

Same problem here. I don’t think this was fixed in 9.6.1.

mparlevliet

Brilliant. I should have done this in the first place. Thanks for always being such a great help!

Thank you for the reply. It’s good to hear it’s on the list at least.
