Hi Sergio & Stu

Unfortunately WP Rocket doesn’t touch background images. It only serves webP images for images with attributes ‘href’, ‘src’, ‘srcset’ and ‘content’. And you can add further attibutes using their ‘Add WebP Target Attribute’ plugin.

I have raised this problem with WP Rocket and it’s on their todo list.

Cheers,

Hi Calin

Thanks for your advice. I’ve check my settings and the Featured Image on the post is working as a modal image, but the second image is still failing with the error “The image #2 could not be loaded”.

I disabled all non-TagDiv plugins, and you can see my settings, etc screenshots at https://imgur.com/a/qLaeAkH

I don’t know where to look next.

Hi @bettina,

Please ignore my earlier reply. The topic at: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/the-image-2-could-not-be-loaded-2/ didn’t help, I’ve still got the problem.

(The changes I made enable a full size image to be shown when I click on it, but not as a Modal Image.)

Hi @bettina,

Unfortunately the topic at: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/the-image-2-could-not-be-loaded-2/ didn’t help, but it got me thinking!

The second image pops out correctly as a modal image when I (a) Set ‘General Modal Image’ ON and (b) set ‘Modal image’ OFF in the Image details when I edit the post.

You can see the settings at https://imgur.com/a/mU83OHr

BUT when I click on the Featured Image in the post, I get an error message “The image #1 could not be loaded”.

Here’s the code for the featured image that does not work correctly:

<div class="tdb-block-inner td-fix-index">

Hi @bettina,

Yes – the images are fully loaded, but if you click on them you get an error message ‘the image #x could not be loaded’.

Modal images are not being displayed.

Hi @bettina,

I’m having exactly the same problem as Vincent with Modal Images. I’m running WordPress 5.9 and Newspaper 11.4.1.

I’m using the ‘Default PRO’ theme.

I have deactivated all plugins using the ‘Health Check & Troubleshooting’ plugin. Only ‘tagDiv Cloud Library’ and ‘tagDiv Composer’ are active.

I thought it may be my child theme, so switched to the Newspaper Version: 11.4.1, but it made no difference.

I also used the Time Machine and installed Newspaper Version: 11.4, it made no difference.

I have ‘General Modal Image’ ON and ‘Use loading animation image’ OFF.

A link demonstrating the problem at https://www.news.cyprus-property-buyers.com/2022/02/11/foreign-buyers-returning-droves/id=00165079

@amit – Many thanks for hints, tips and advice on getting 100 PageSpeed score.

I’ve made it (almost) with 100/95 and 100/99 on my AMP page. Plus the bonus of passing Google’s Core Web Vitals.

Thanks again
Nigel

Yes – I’m having this problem, but only with Firefox. Chrome is OK.

I’m waiting for a reply from support.

Hi vincentalain

I’m pleased to hear I’m not the only one with FireFox problems.

But all my theme settings are OK (and I’m using a child there.)

This problem only shows itself when I use the FireFox web browser.

No problem when I use Google Chrome.

Hi Bettina, The problem is apparent on https://tagdiv-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/tagdiv.com/whats-new-in-the-newspaper-theme-10-4-update/?amp as well as my website.

Please see screenshot at https://i.imgur.com/nUChDHz.jpg

I used the TOR browser to take the first shot. As you will see the text of the like button has been translated into French as “J’aime”

I used the Firefox browser to take the second shot. As you will see the text of the like button has been translated into Greek (as I reported earlier) as ”Μου αρέσει!”

Perhaps you can investigate this as the problem is clearly not with me.

Thank you

nhowarth

Thanks Bettina

I have looked through the Greek translation for the word “Like” in Newspaper -> Theme panel -> Translations -> .

It shows “Κάντε Like”, which is a bit strange ??

An alternative would be to hide the text on the “Like” button so it only shows the ‘Thumbs Up’ icon. (I’ve seen this on several websites.)

Any thoughts on how I can do this?

TIA

Nigel

Hello Bettina

Changing the Facebook language as suggested will not help as it will only change the language I see. I want the the button to display ‘Like’ regardless of the language native to the country of where my articles are read.

Thanks

Hi be2name & Calin

I started my blog in 2004 and have worked my way through many of the caching plugins over the years.

I ‘discovered’ WPRocket a couple of years ago and I think it’s the best. It works fine with the Newspaper theme and I wouldn’t change it for anything else.

I have a child theme and updated Newspaper yesterday. No problems, my child theme customisations continued to work as expected.
