I’ll try to find some sample adsense code and plug it into a Custom Ad box and report back. Also, we’re feeding ads from a DFP (Doubleclick for Publishers) account, so will build one in there and try to make it work. Custom CSS to hide category/date on slider worked perfectly, thanks so much!

Still having issues with the Featured Photos not displaying at full size. We ran the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin, deleted cache on page and no difference. Viewing on screen not too large (15″ laptop) and images still smaller than column, although they look for a moment when loading as if they will be correct size, then quickly resize themselves to a little too small. Is there a minimum size or any other way to control the issue?

Also, we have set the slide to only rotate through 5 posts but it currently is rotating 10 posts. Other content block on page is set to offset 5 posts (start at 6th post) and “Unique Articles” is enabled, in case that matters. Screen here. Any idea why that would be happening and what to do to fix?

Also with regard to IOS Slider for version 4, we would like to remove the category and date blocks over the images, but still allow categories and dates to appear as usual on posts, and dates to appear as they are in the content blocks on the home page. Wondering how to hide the category and date info on the slider only? Thanks!

I doubt that author line is commented in template files as we have left theme (and child theme) mostly in original form. Byline appears on certain posts that used the Default style (Style 1) which was set up to ingest legacy content. Moving forward, looking to use Style 2 or 3, but bylines do not appear. Are we limited to displaying author only in certain styles?

Hi Chris – We do have the option to show “Show Author Under Title” selected to be active (Theme Panel, using Newspaper 4.6.1). Just wondering if there is some other reason why the byline does not appear below the title, although the author box seems to work fine? Thanks!

We’ll review the documentation for Revolution Slider, but were just wondering, based upon your experience with it and your decision to include it in the Newspaper package, is it capable of styling in a similar way to Big Slide and also pull in Featured posts with titles?

Will try regenerate thumbnails after your review and comment. Not clear why we would have to regenerate thumbnails when only original images were uploaded to existing/first-time install of version 4, but would be happy to try. If it works, would we need to regenerate each time we add content to the slide?

For some reason, our slide doesn’t look anything like the demo link above. Is the “IOS Slider” you mentioned the “Slide” option that we can select when adding an element in Visual Composer? Only other options I see are “Big Slide” (which won’t work across 2-column) and Revolution Slider, which I’m not sure can be formatted to display Featured articles with titles (can it?).

Another slide issue we continue to have is that our images are always appearing slightly too small for the area, (screenshot here) so the title and category boxes hang over to the left. Doesn’t seem to matter how large the original image is or even the proportion. I’ve seen references to this in other forum posts but no solution that looks like it applies to us. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks, I guess the most frustrating part is that it was working fine for months, no changes to home page layout. Now we need to build in different rows, which creates a sidebar issue. Using the logic that this theme is build around 3 column fixed grid, 1/3 of those 3 columns is dedicated to the sidebar on the right. Now we want to display the slider over column 1 and 2, the sidebar moves to the top of column 3, which is fine. But adding a new row under the slider doesn’t allow that content to start until after the sidebar is ended. If we use the page version of the sidebar, it reduces the remaining space on the page and divides that up into 3 columns, in essence creating 4 columns. Not very design-friendly.

I just wish we understood why it worked correctly at first (since May) with the row within the slider row, then it doesn’t anymore. By the way, does version 6 offer more flexibility in this regard?

Thanks for reply. Yes, using version 4 for now. Tried different templates but originally set up with “Homepage blank” and worked fine.

The row is 2/3 + 1/3 with a Slide at the top. Below is another two columns (in same row) that are 1/2 + 1/2. We did not change those settings and was working/displaying fine for a month or two. If we create a new column on a new page (or new row on same page), it seems to work. Once it comes near the slide (TD) now it splits.

Just to clarify, was this an issue in Newspaper 4.6.1? That’s what we’re currently running (child theme). We were planning to update to Newspaper 6 and knowing that this would resolve the WooCommerce problem would make it a mandatory step now. Thanks for quick reply!
