Appreciate the reply. Not exactly clear, I don’t think we’re using a header template from the Cloud Library, just whatever header that was active with the demo. Can we convert our existing header into a template? Can we download a header from the Cloud Library and modify it to match our existing layout, then swap it out? I don’t understand why you would need cPanel credentials. They are hard to give out since we’re on shared hosting. Will send over admin and the link. I really just want to know how to make the (jetpack + stats module required) work. Thanks!

We have been trying to resolve this same issue for awhile now. Turning off cache on the home page is not an option since it’s the most trafficked of all pages. We are only using one cache plugin. However most of them offer an ability to exclude or exclude deferring the loading of certain JavaScript files or code.

Wondering if you could help us identify which code or call is being made to deliver the current temperature? Should we focus on the http://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/forecast?id=524901&APPID={YOUR API KEY} API? Hopefully excluding only that element from the cache process would solve the problem? Any other ideas or feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

CSS just makes the temperature font size smaller for only the tablet view. Seems to work fine, thanks so much!

We do see that Flex Blocks allow for the rounding of corners on thumbnails within a block. Wondering if there is some way to specify to round corners for thumbnails only by category? For example, only present rounded corners on images of columnists or images of opinion articles vs. news articles? Anything more granular than by block? And are we able to use regular blocks yet to achieve the rounded corners, even with CSS, or still limited to Flex Blocks? Thanks so much!

Hi Diana – I think what you’re looking for is in the Theme Panel > Translations > Translations section. You should be able to change the text you referenced in there. Be careful, though, because some of the original texts (like “Login” or “Tags”) appear in multiple areas so be sure to check that what you’re editing is for the area you’re targeting. It’s a very helpful feature but might benefit from being broken down better into sections or categories in the future. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. We are using 10.3.5 but still not seeing an option that addresses the original issue posted above. If the More Articles option is selected, using the Category filter, posts are included from years ago instead of Latest. If the Latest filter is used, posts display from unrelated categories. Is there any kind of code we can drop into a template that would allow for a secondary sort and make this feature more efficient? Thanks so much!

I know quite a few versions have been released since this issue was addressed. Wondering if any additional sorting capability is available? Almost any option on a news site other than “Latest” or maybe “Same Author” seems minimally helpful. Sorting by tags and categories are great, but as soon as an article appears from years ago, the reader gets confused. Would appreciate any suggestions for a workaround. Thanks so much!

Trying to add Custom Ad 1 to the top of category pages and Custom Ad 2 to bottom of pages. Code for loop.php is helpful but links to screen shots referenced in Lucian’s first post above are not working. Is there another place to find them? Was able to use the “$adcounter = 0;” or “$adcounter == 2)” terms to add an ad after 10 articles. Wondering how to make an ad appear at the very top of the page (below nav bar and above breadcrumbs) as this is typically where we insert Super Leaderboard ads.

I can see the list of features for Newspaper 6 but not clear which are new or improved? We are going to need to convince client that the new functionality and updates are worth the extra work.

Thank you for the quick reply and your candid feedback. We were finally able to get VC 4.11.2.1 to update manually and needed to reload both Newspaper and the child theme we created, so we have a temporary fix.

I understand that running the update will be both helpful and painful, needing to rebuild certain pages and elements, so I think we’re moving ahead with that over the next few weeks. Wondering if there is anywhere that outlines the benefits/improvements in Version 6 over Version 4, so I am better able to explain the value of making the extra effort? I see extra flexibility in block and module layouts, better stability and design, etc. Would appreciate a link or direction to a couple of forum posts (?) which might give a more complete outline. Saw the link to update process so pretty sure we can figure it out.

Really appreciate the quick feedback! Pretty sure we tried this originally but were told that the tab feature in VC wouldn’t work with Newspaper. Looks like others on the forum had similar issues. Our latest attempt looks like this: http://www.inmaricopa.com/test-gallery-tabs/ Uploaded screenshot here in case link isn’t working. Tabs seem to stack on top of each other instead of preferred format.

If you guys are aware of any workarounds, please let me know. Willing to try anything.

Noticed that the screenshots were all Newspaper 6. Would that mean that these functions might not work on Newspaper 4? The lazy load looks great but can’t seem to find it in the Theme Panel.

Also, any thoughts on some kind of category selector at the top, maybe a drop-down but not necessarily, that would jump link or anchor to the specific Gallery on the page?

This page also uses a Block 3 below, with Limit Posts set to 12 and Offset Posts set to 5.

Also, http://www.venturaclassifieds.com/real-estate is set for 5 but displays 10.
This page only uses Block 3 and Offset Posts is not used.

As mentioned, 5 seems to be the only number causing trouble…

Photo grid in events section is displaying properly for now since we deactivated an offending plugin (Huge-IT Video Gallery). Wondering if you are aware of any other video gallery options that seem reliable and work well with Newspaper?

Thanks for the suggestion, I just modified the default sidebar with generic content so it will work with this and maybe other areas where we run into the same challenge.

Prior to that, I noticed that the “Photo” view isn’t displaying anymore on the events page:

Other views, like list and calendar still seem to work fine. Wondering if you have seen this before, perhaps it relates to the default template?

With regard to custom modification, can you provide any direction so that we have a better sense of what type of work we’re asking developer to complete? Not really sure how to explain the task.
