Thanks! To reproduce just enable OWASP recommended rules for WordPress sites in cloudflare and try to edit a template. In developer mode you will see 404 on some api calls that get flagged with those XSS attack filters. Whitelist your IP in the firewall rules editor and all is well again.

Thanks for the reply but again, google changed pagespeed tests and if you use the old pagespeed I get an OK score but with the new one’s TD scores really poorly even after all of these optimizations. I am seeking clarity on which fixes actually address the newer checks as none of these do.

I would think TD would support it in both, but i see the same alert in pagespeed. Pagespeed may just look for lazyload on scroll not on load

Hate to bump an older thread but support keeps referencing this one. Do yall still have good pagespeed scores? I’m seeing with the new lighthouse tests the theme does terrible on mobile and ok on desktop

@epic are any of those guides still current? they may be ok for old pagespeed but the new one doesn’t seem to like newspaper

I have that set for social networks, what i’m curious about is that i use Tags on posts and all of the tag links are do-follow. I’d like to set them to rel=nofollow so my posts don’t pass their link juice to tags.

Known bug. It may actually be saving just not showing it. If you disable the mobile them, save and re-enable mobile theme it works.

Says installed & Active. Will keep poking around. Would be nice if there was an easier way to debug or get info from this 🙂 I’m sure ya’ll get tons of requests for help with the importance of page speed these days!

To get Buddypress to work 95% of the way I went into the “page” template and disabled sidebar. That means /groups /members /register and other buddpress pages will render correctly without getting squished. That gets it working most of the way. I leave sidebars enabled on posts (blogs) so it worked ok and if needed i could enable sidebar on individual pages.

Is there a secret to moving “tdb_less_front”? seems like its the only css i can’t handle and get a warning about

without the full path to the CSS it means those have been identified & moved. Still just not seeing the js files moved to bottom of page and pagetest is still saying render blocking content up top (same ones as before plugin)

BBpress is *NOT* the same as BUDDYPRESS (buddypress implements bbpress for some of its functionality, sure). Yes, BBpress looks ok and is super seamless in newspaper theme however BuddyPress forces you to disable sidebars for all PAGE content or your groups/members/community pages will not be sized right…

I was sort of disappointed to see that while they claim to support buddypress there is no real support. You have to know how to edit CSS to fix broken styles (search boxes covering content and such) and you have to disable sidebars on page content.

The user registration process for buddypress takes over when you switch to buddypress and it works with the theme. as for cpu load, unless you get a ton of users immediately you should be able to upgrade your plan as you build a community. The only issue i saw with buddypress/bbpress was that it ads a few style sheets and javascripts which you have to defer and doing that in newspaper theme is still challenging.

I already cache php content with Nginx fastcgi cache. I just noticed if you run top on my box and do a search, you can see sql consumes all the cpu for a brief delay and everything comes back. It’s not that the search is terribly slow, but i would love to pre-cache it so the response is faster and there is less load on my server. Is there a sql query its running that i could make sure to optimize around? guess i’ll enable query tracing and see myself, but figured i would ask. The behavior doesn’t look unique to my site and most people may not be paying close attention to search 🙂

Same problem for me now.. just sits there trying to load when before it just acted up trying to save.

The theme says it supports buddy press but not very well. Design elements get mixed up and none of the sidebars work as expected. I want to make it work but haven’t had much time to dive in other than removing functionality from my site to try and make it work…

I was confused, turning off the animation turns off lazyloading. i use modpagespeed to lazyload… But it would be nice to have the youtube lazyloader with preview image

If i disable tagdiv lazyload and tagdiv Loading image effects is it safe to use wp-rocket lazyload and youtube lazy loader?

Can yall implement the youtube lazy loader in newspaper? it saves a lot of bandwidth and javascript loader.

Known issue, If you disable the mobile theme it will save correctly. I’ve asked for this to be fixed, patiently waiting. (disabling mobile theme isn’t really a good option for me). It will sometimes save even though it spins forever.

I believe this is a known bug. If you disable the mobile theme, then TD Composer saves correctly. Sometimes it will save even though the spinning thing never stops, but I find that a terrible way to create.

Confirmed disabling mobile theme and save works.

When mobile theme is on, saving isn’t always consistent though. You may be able to make one edit but then you have to go back and refresh and re-save again. Please let me know when to expect a fix
