Hey @Lucian I tried to follow that tutorial, unfortunately the step that says to place the code in the td_modules_blog.php that file is non-existent in the Modules folder. Please help, where then should I be placing the codes??

Hey guys…so now with the latest update of both NewsMag (2.0) and of NewsPaper (6+) I don’t seem to see any file named td_module_blog.php in the Modules folder as directed by the screenshot. So exactly where should I now try to add the and !get_field('hide_ad') ? for it to take effect?? Please help!

Thank you @Radu for the update. I look forward to the updates to NewsMag..and I may actually also get NewsPaper 6 in the future. I’m just awaiting really cool gallery options in NewsMag (something like what The Voux theme does, where they have a gallery that opens up in a lightbox slider and you can have ads and also your text/description on the right side) – that would definitely set these themes way above all the other magazine style themes out there (it’s one feature lots of bloggers like myself who does lifestyle magazine based blogs keep asking for).

I had the same questions as well. Wondering what the major differences between the two themes are as they stand going forward? Will NewsMag be updated? What features can we expect to come to NewsMag?

I’m using a child theme (newsmag child theme) and when I updated to 1.7 I also got that very same issue..Even when I disabled all plugins same issue. I removed the search altogether following a tut I saw on here from the response to another poster, but I’ll go try this instead, since having a search bar is still needed for my site..Hoping future updates won’t be so wonky anymore..

Same..how do we remove this option? It’s actually causing my images to not load at all no or load wayyy too slow. How do we remove this option?

Yep! It’s working now without problems as they corrected the weird issue where it wasn’t working well with the older 3.2 Hopefully that now allows everyone to update and enjoy 1.6. 🙂

I like that the footers in 1.6 have tons of new options..really useful! Only glitch I’ve seen so far is that every time the page loads, the menu looks like the standard blue line over black background menu (like on demo site) until the page fully loads then it changes to what I had it set to be: a menu with no background and no white line (it didn’t used to load like that till the update, not sure why it does that though).

Yep! Alls well now..I simply deleted that older plugin..upgraded to 1.6 then installed the newer version of the social counter included in the new 1.6 folder and everything is running smoothly again with 1.6 yay! Hope that helps others who were facing the issue.

Edited to add: they do recommend deleting that plugin as they mention to do this on another commenters post over on Themeforest:

Fix:
please delete the social counter plugin via ftp. It is located in : wp-content/plugins/td-social-counter
upload the new version that is found in the zip that you downloaded from themeforest
if you don’t manage to fix it, please send an email with your FTP details to contact@tagdiv.com with the subject ASAP FIX

So maybe that’s what’s causing the issues. Anyone who’s using the plugin is going to see some errors/face problems till they fix it. Maybe if we deactivate that plugin that can fix for now?

I updated as per usual via FTP and it did the same error. CRASH the site gives a completely blank white screen, can’t access front or backend. This the first update that ever did that since using NewsMag. I downgraded my theme back to 1.5 and it completely fixed the issue (and I am also using child theme by the way so I normally just update the main theme with no issues), so something is up with 1.6 somewhere in the codes.

Got the same error..White screen, completely blank and couldn’t access anything frontend or backend. I downgraded back to 1.5 for now and it brought my site back. Weird issue..

Thanks for this, I finally now figured out how to change a lot of the text for things in the theme.

Question though, how do we change the background color of the news ticker? I used to be able to find it, but now I can’t seem to locate it. Any tips?

Ok seems that last update helped fixed the issue now. I’m using the NewsMag Child Theme, so hopefully anyone else running into similar issue this may help them.

Awh see that’s what I mean. I don’t only want two columns in a fullwidth layout I need that option also when a sidebar is present on the post.

I’m really hoping future development will allow a more flexible grid indeed.

Actually, sI’m in the style.css file but for some reason, it’s really hard to locate the exact things I’m after (for example: Post body h1 h2 and h3 and the Quotes)… Is there a cheat sheet listing of the exact selectors used for typography?

finally found them buried way towards bottom, but I’ll report back if the direct fix worked out.

Ok, so maybe it’s just that the demo posts don’t work well with being edited? Because I created a brand new post and decided to use that same 1024×576 image, inserted it the same way and set it to be tagdiv fullwidth and in modal and it works! http://afro.freshmedleydesigns.com/?p=155

I’ll continue to do more test posts and see what happens. But I’m wondering, if on my live site, for posts I already wrote way prior to installing the theme, would that weird issue occur if I go edit old posts and want to set images to fullwidth? (I’ll test some as well and see and let you all know).

Tried those and still same weird issue. The blocks settings they are all turned on, still didn’t help. The image is actually set to be inserted as 640×360 still didn’t help when set to be the tagdiv fullwidth style, not sure why though. I’ll test a whole brand new post and insert the image there and see if the same things happen.

Good thing I’m testing this on my theme test domain and not my actual site first.

I also see in tins of examples on the official demo site that there are fullwidth images in posts that aren’t fullwidth but grid like this http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag/the-evolution-of-design-and-technology-review/
