Install the version included with the theme; that is version tested to be compatible at this time.
Just use a normal text widget built-in to WordPress …
Well, you should not have two versions of same theme in theme folder; remember theme “names” come from the style.css file not the folder name. But yes, you can rename the theme folder if only one version is there.
You might want to read the wordpress docs (the ‘codex’) on wordpress.org for more info on renaming things. 🙂
The best way to upgrade is
a) delete old version of theme AND the included plugins via FTP
b) install new version of theme in theme folder via FTP
c) upload updated plugins to plugin folder via FTP
d) login to admin panel, resave permalinks
e) optimize dbase with wp-optimize
That is how I’ve been doing it past 3 years with theme back to version 1x. 🙂
Thanks. Reminded me I actually needed to do this, too (doh) 🙂
For those not getting it — the pastebin code needs to be added to the main theme functions.php file, typically at the bottom.
Tagdiv would need to give us a shortcode for the hit counter, which we could then add to the normal filter function you shoukd already have to add shortcode to header or footer.
Wordpress supports oembed. You might read the docs for wordpress on wordpress.org which explain all the built in audio and video embed options, which work regardless of theme used.
Newspaper has worked well with disqus tha past 3 years. Built in wp comments work well too with no plugin needed except akismet.
However by social comment system, one presumes you mean facebook comments? You can add that but its a little tricky to implement, but luckily you can find examples by searching forum.
Usually what i do is remove the css elements in style.css for those
Theme settings don’t “suddenly” disappear, so good idea to change your account logins/passwords asap.
Normally you should be “exporting” your theme settings after hours of work to ensure you have backups; and/or periodically doing a mysql dbase dump (the tools > export saves content, but not theme settings!).
No way to “revert” unless you have a backup to do so.
Good idea to check the actual theme panels to see if the settings are still there (AFTER YOU CHANGE YOUR ADMIN PASSSWORD!).
Note a lot of WP sites got hacked this past week due to so many people not updating WP for the security patches. So, also good to scan your site with the free securi scanner tool online.
From ThemeForest with the theme; simply download the “all files” from your downloads page, for the theme, and find it in the /plugins/ folder 🙂
I just upgrade from 1.7 to 3.1 and the whole them works better.
See the theme docs on using the ad system to place your own ad banner in the header; and use normal html to link your graphic to whatever page you want. Simple 🙂
Theme docs explain how to use ads
This happens when you change themes. Temporarily the theme directory loads in place of all your content and makes that error — just mark fixed and ignore. Not anything to worry about.
Nobody should ever be going to that URL on the web, as it’s your theme directory, not part of the website.
Admin should likely add this to the docs or FAQs, but common issue with WordPress; which is why the theme docs suggest putting a “maintenance mode” plugin in place when changing/updating themes; only way to avoid that. 🙂
Probably need to hire a developer to customize the CSS viewports to, again, remove the smallest viewports for phones from the style.css to not load any custom css for phones, if that’s what you’re after.
Sorry. Perhaps you need to more clearly explain what your problem is ?
This theme is not pirated; it was created entirely by TagDiv.
Other people have stolen/copied it; some post it online as their version; TagDiv’s version is original and not copied from anything else, and includes custom code and plugins written entirely by TagDiv (e.g., booster framework, etc.).
If you think it’s stolen, why not complain to ThemeForest since you think they sell pirated software (which they do not; everything sold goes through multiple checks). You should be able to get a refund from ThemeForest if you feel somebody has ruined your life somehow, which is not entirely clear from your posting.
“we give money, buy everything free” doesn’t make a lot of sense, sorry.
(( I don’t work here. ))
You can also simply try out the plugin and see if it works; if it works with normal WordPress themes, no reason it shouldn ‘t work with this one in normal posts — keep in mind it may not work with content built in a post or page with Visual Composer; so that would be a tech question for the plugin company as to whether it works with VC elements or not.
Should work with normal posts; but I don’t work here.
wp-admin is part of wordpress, no the theme.
That looks like your WP install is not quite setup properly, if you’re trying to load admin elements via http.
One trick you can do is ensure you have proper 301 redirect for your site for any http requests to go to https, and ALSO add the explicit https// url for your site in your wp-config.php file (see the wordpress.org codex on editing the wp-config.php file to put in the explicit URL for your website)
That should help!
W T F ??????????????????????????????????
You should only buy the original legal copy of Newspaper theme from TagDiv via the ONLY legal place to buy it, which is ThemeForest.
https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609
Any other version on the web is pirated.
I have been using Newspaper for over 3 years since it launched, and this is the original “real” version of theme, and not pirated.
ThemeForest does not allow pirated software.
WHAT ?!

The site is responsive, I don’t think there is a “mobile version” for Newsmag.
Responsive design means the theme uses CSS to change the layout depending on “viewport,” — so there is no separate “mobile theme” to turn off.
The desktop version does show on tablets, like iPad (I use one).
You might be able to delete the CSS for the phone viewport in the style.css file, so you might start there and delete sections for smallest viewport.
But, TagDiv might have better answer. 🙂
See Google for how to clear cache in whatever web browser you’re using.
If using a caching plugin on your site, clear it.
Permalinks are part of the WordPress settings — good to learn how to use WP; and the docs are found on wordpress.org. Basically go to your permalinks settings and press “save” button.
Learn to use FTP; best way to properly delete things as you know they are gone. If you have aggressive caching running, you should disable that when doing theme changes. If using CDN, you need to poke an update.
Try using wp-optimize to clear transients in your dbase; also resave permalinks whenever you change themes to clear stuck rewrites.
Test one of your posts with GTmetrix.com for explanation and help on optimizing your site/server further. Read the help/examples for each item to work on. Only you can optimize images, make sure gzip/deflate working on server, minimize external elements being loaded, etc.
You can also peruse my epic poem in the docs > tutorials > best of forums section.

The NGINX vs Apache thing is a tad confusing with the latest web servers; for example I run Apache because I’ve been doing so for 20 years and know it’s tweaks; NGINX works a bit diffferent; and if I didn’t have a legacy 16 year old website to deal with we’d been running NGINX.
Funny thing, even with the new system, NGINX runs in front of Apache to serve http/2 for https, which we have not yet implemented. But the pages are served by Apache (for now).
Your server is likely running opcache/memcache with NGINX, which is good. It speeds up files requested over and over, as I stated. Local caching on your site is different, as it caches the stuff being queried for each page to speed things up since there is no lag time waiting for dbase to serve and render the page (technically with php/wordpress there are no actual “pages” on your site, they all are built dynamically).
So, you likely have a CentOS/Apache setup (as we do here), but NGINX being used for caching.
Generally, you should just tell your host you need your domain optimized for WORDPRESS, and they should be able to do the rest on the backend as far as caching, gzip/deflate, etc.
No support on weekends isn’t good for hosting provider; means they are a reseller and not a “true host” — they are reselling another company’s hosting, which is very common.
In any case, it’s a process — but some of the stuff is NOT theme specific, it’s WordPress specific, meaning the server side tweaks, and general optimization of time to live, caching, expiration headers, image compression, etc., are NOT specific to ANY theme.
So, good to make Google your friend and explore the many articles out there on “speeding up WordPress” — sites like WPBeginner, WPMU, etc.
