Hi Calin – This has been a ver confusing time with Newspaper and not receiving the support we used to get. We are still confused about your ‘standard pack’!

As per one post:

If you have experience with WordPress and Newspaper Theme and plan to create a blazing fast website, then the Standard Pack plugin is not the best choice. You’ll achieve your goals easier using the Newspaper Theme with tgaDiv Cloud Library and tagDiv Composer to create a website that loads only the necessary code to make it perfect, just as you design it.

So do we disable it or enable it? When I disable it nothing breaks!

I’m sorry but is this a joke! Your theme is causing an error in GTMetrix and the best support I get is a list of links to posts! You advertise this new Newspaper X update as blazing fast with a high gtmetrix score. I have errors and when I PAY to renew support your first reply to my issue is an additional ‘paid service fee’ I’m assuming there is NO MORE support here! You then blame other plugins and I replied this is coming from the tagdiv editor and standard plugin! You can’t be serious with your replies for support considering I bought newspaper 4 times and recommend your theme to all my clients! This will no longer be the case!

We are now looking at Elementor and Divi as an alternative! If this is what you consider professional support I’ll add this to my in depth review and why I would recommend one of these alternate 2 page builders! Absolutely shameful!

Following my last reply and with extensive testing when I turn of the TAGDIV composer all the errors are gone and I get almost an almost 100% GTMetrix score! However, this must be enabled but it’s the cause of all the errors!

I have to agree with Maggo as it’s confusing! Do we enable or disable the ‘standard pack’ plugin I appreciate your support and sending a link however I have this error on ALL themes using Newspaper which is why I paid to renew support. I would appreciate you following the link and letting us know what and where this error is coming from?

My sincere apologies as I assumed for a faster loading site etc I was supposed to de-activate the ‘standard pack’ plugin. So what you’re saying is for better and faster performance I should enable it?

I already found the fix from another post here hence SOLVED. I edited the td_first_install.php as per your instructions which worked

I’m not asking for ways to speed my website which is already fast but I renewed my support here just for this fix. This is an error I would like solved as there are 53 components that can be minified as below which i was informed due to the theme!

Just checked with the Twitter card validator and it’s correct and as it should be. However, when clicking on the twitter share on each post it is not correct! It doesn’t give the correct @andytlaird It still gives @Andy T Laird Photography which means that the @andy goes to someone else and not me!

The problem I’m having is not with FaceBook but Twitter. It’s pulling the Twitter name when it should be as @andytlaird

SOLVED – It was a plugin ‘remove J query string’ I deactivated it and the issue went away

I’m also getting the same problem. All counters work except the tweets http://www.andytlaird.com

FANTASTIC – It works perfectly now. The earlier screenshot you gave had archive.php which didn’t work.The taxonomy.php did and the site looks great without any cropped images. Good to know I can stay with Newspaper as it’s the best theme for WordPress.

Thanks for your support. Unfortunately EDD works fine with other templates/themes but not Newspaper. I respect that you do not provide customization but I’m hoping for a fix as other themes provide.

I have bought your theme numerous times and really don’t want to switch to another.

Can I simply go to archive.php and make a change to M1? All my images are being cropped but if I use a shortcode and add a page http://www.top10px.com/downloads the images are perfect. Only when I follow a link to a category do they all get cropped.

Unless your theme was built specifically for use with EDD, there’s a chance it has an archive.php file and no archive-download.php. That means your theme will use the generic archive.php template to display products when you visit yourdomain.com/downloads in your browser.

While this generic display may be okay for author or date archives, it isn’t always a good fit for download archives. Instead, you would need to create an archive specifically for Downloads.

When I check the image thumbnails on this download page it appears to be as if from M2

I understand this but I have a downloads category which is from Easy Digital Downloads which doesn’t show/list in the Newspaper Categories section. Please look at the link I sent of a better idea

Sorry as perhaps I wasn’t clear. I am using the latest version 7.4 and plugins etc. I cannot install the demo theme as it wipes out my whole website whether I check include or not include content. I have to get my host to install a backup twice!

I have managed to create the black header etc but all I need to do now is to have the pages and posts with black (dark background) How do I do this or can I simply add some custom css? If I do this what do I add?

Following my last post I cannot install the dark demo to my live site as it deleted all my content and I had to install a back up! I tried to install without content when this happened. Everything looks fine except the pages and posts still have white backgrounds with black text.
