Hi Andrei,

I’ve managed to find the problem, it’s something in the .htaccess file, don’t know what yet, I just grabbed everything out of the file and saved it and the problem has gone.

I’ll piece it back together tomorrow and post here whatever it was that caused it for anyone else with the same problem

Thanks for all your help

Best wishes

D

Hi Andrei,

I’ve not yet tried a database repair as mentioned above because I went to the server and there was a MySQL connection error caused by a php.ini file that the server people had added to fix a previous outage.

Here’s the reply I got from them regarding the MySQL issue, hardly very helpful….

Let me know what you think before I go messing around with anything else and doing damage

Many thanks

D

Hello,

The MySQL server is up and running. Your logs are indicating your WordPress is unable to connect, not that the server itself is offline.

We can see that a custom php.ini is being used (public_html/php.ini) and this file contains invalid settings for our environment which was causing MySQL to be unable to connect.

We renamed this file to php.ini.bak and the site is now loading, albeit with the previous warnings.

We suggest contacting a WordPress developer to assist with upgrading the site and fixing any inconsistencies caused by the upgrade.

Please let us know if there are any further questions.

Hi Andrei,

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried it but that didn’t have any effect.

I’ve just received an email stating that my site has been updated to wordpress 4.5.1 I don’t know how because I’m not even on auto update, maybe this is a spam message that’s doing the rounds?

Anyway, I’ve gone back to the site to try and login and now I’m not able to access the login page, I get the following error

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Headers and client library minor version mismatch. Headers:50530 Library:50623 in /home/unplugti/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1520

Any ideas????

Many thanks

Any news yet on an update that will bring the theme in line with Woocommerce 2.5 it’s been out for months and there hasn’t been a theme update for 3 months. it worries me that I have another instance of the theme out there with a store and products and there’s no update for that??????

I’ve got 4 sites running this theme, the lack of a proper updates is getting a bit worrying

I don’t know if anyone else has had problems with the last version of VC that was bundled with the previous update. I have got problems with the masonry gallery dissappearing after a time. Also Have problems duplicating pages in VC back end, they come out all over the place once you’ve duplicated them with all the content boxes overlapping. My header ads also broke at the last update which I’ve only just noticed and am currently trying to sort out in another thread.

Unfortunately this theme seems to be going a bit shonky on the 4 installations I’ve used it on, I’ve taken 2 of them down cos they keep falling apart and I’m not confident in them. I’ve even gone as far as buying a instance of the newspaper theme due to the lack of confidence in this theme. maybe I should start looking for alternative themes? I don’t know, it’s a worry though

Is the latest update just to cover the guys who have updated to WP 4.5, looks like it from the change log, was hoping for more, guess I’ll have to be patient.

OK, I got the header ad working on desktop by uploading your theme to another installation and then importing the sample data and pulling it from the theme panel

HERE IT IS

<div class="td-all-devices"><a href="#"><img src="https://unplug.tips/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/juiceage-header-ad-728x90-1.jpg" /></a></div>

But it only works on desktop

How can I alter it to work on tablet and mobile

Many thanks

Can you please post an example of the code you are using for the 3 header images you are using on your demo. As you know there are 3 images, just need that working code

PLease

unplug.tips

Can you send me an example of the code please? I’ve been using the example ad code from your documentation which seemed to work until recently

I’ve removed the ad because as I said, it’s breaking the header

Thanks!

Thank you for the prompt reply. Your code worked like a charm.

Thanks Emil,

Do you have any news on when you plan to release an update that’s compatible with the latest version of Woocommerce?

I feel it might be a waste of my time searching around for a solution if there’s an imminent update?

Many thanks

Dean

One other thing…… Now that customers in the UK have to pay 20% EU VAT on these products to the government of a country they don’t live in, that has pushed the cost of some themes to over $72!!!!!

Add in the support and your not going to have people buying themes, they’ll just download them from the pirate bay.

Hey Chris,

All mine have expired for multiple sites, including 4 instances of the Newsmag theme.

Over 3 Envato accounts I have over 100 themes, to think that I’m going to have to give Envato or the theme developer $14.70 every 6 months for however many themes I have just for the privilege of downloading updates is completely out of order.

I don’t make any money on my sites and it already costs a fortune to mess around with this stuff when you add in domain renewals, hosting and all the rest.

I’ll be happy to take my business elsewhere if that situation arises on Envato.

Having said all of that…. I have had 3 themes with expired support that pushed updates in the past 4 days and I’m still able to download the updated files for those themes.

I think the support ideas is a cynical con trick by envato to scare the inexperienced into buying something they don’t need, it’s tardy actions like this that now has me moving away from buying products through Envato if I can possibly help it and going directly to the theme developer/coder/artist/musician/videographer etc.

Whilst I appreciate that support can take a huge amount of time to run, it’s part of the game and if your supplying a product ie a theme, you really should support that if you are a reputable outfit such as TagDiv, I had noted in one of the replies on the Newsmag theme comments section that support would continue in this forum regardless, again, points to the fact that Evato are just trying to charge for something they don’t provide and I can still post in the comments section even though support has supposedly ended, it’s completely ridiculous.

Coming from a background of owning a furniture manufacturing company in the UK for 25 years, I can tell you that I would never supply a product and then try to monetise “support” which is in my eyes comparable to a guarantee that the theme will continue to function properly over a given time period, I’m not even sure what they are trying to do would be legal under UK consumer law.

I love to support TagDiv but I’ll buy another theme from them thanks or make a donation rather than be forced into buying something for nothing. Let’s be honest, there’s no option for extended support on the TagDiv website (as far as I can see) so how can it be solely for the benefit of TagDiv?

I appreciate that it’s a great service and you are very right to commend the efforts of TagDiv and rally support for them and the extra income that people buying this “support” would generate but until someone comes along and tells me that I’m not going to get updates unless I pay then I simply won’t pay. If it becomes a demand I’ll just find another theme. (that’s not directed at TagDiv, just Envato)

Cheers

D

I found this but don’t really understand it, can someone elaborate on what needs to happen to sort this out and if the solution below would have a detrimental effect on other theme functions?

Well, I’m just pleased it’s resolved.

I never post on here without thoroughly investigating things for myself first so I’m very grateful for all your help Chris. You’ve answered most of my more technical question on here over the last year or so and my site is a lot better off for receiving your very thorough advice, for that I can only thank you once again 🙂

The cheques in the post lol

D

By the way, (just going off topic for a secnond) Did you get chance to have another look at the facebook comments implementation?

unplug.tips
tagDiv Member

Hi Chris,

Thanks for that, I always enjoy your informative answers

I’ve got 4 sites that run this theme, I’ve checked 3 of them and they are the same, ones down at the moment with ssl issues but I digress. I’ve got perhaps another 10 sites and none of them display this behaviour, only the 3 I have on this theme….

All my other sites just have their normal URL with a trailing slash in the Snippet editor so it must be something to do with how I have the thing configured?

I’m at a loss….

Many thanks

D

PS, an update of Yoast came out about 30 seconds ago, upgraded that and voila!!!!!! Back to normal 🙂 \o/ \o/ \o/

SiuSang

I found it best to click the “Add Media” button in the post and then click “Create Gallery” you can add them in line that way and use WP Gallery Custom Links plugin if you need to make the images clickable

Hi guys,

Did anyone get time to investigate this? I’d love to implement it on a couple of sites but don’t really know what I’m doing here.

Please let me know if you come up with a solution, facebook comments have obvious benefits for sites and users, would be a fantastic if you could provide me a solution or if you could work it into the theme that would be amazing.

Best wishes

Hey Chris,

I’m on the facebook devs site right now trying to set something up, not sure why they had to make everything so complicated lol

But, yeah, I’d be very interested in this if it can be worked out so I’ll have a play around with it when I get a moment.
