Hi Lucian,
I replied via email with my sites URL and theme purchase code.
Many thanks
D
Can you elaborate a little on this process for us of limited technical ability 🙂
It’s something I would like to try and do but you lost me at ‘then edit the pull info from the main config’
Any help is always appreciated
I’ve re-uploaded the videos that were not displaying correctly and now there’s just one left that’s showing half width, weird.
I’ll keep an eye on it and let you know if it happens again
Many thanks
D
Ok, Just had the update from a guy called Krystian Wojcik at Envato. He writes the following.
Sorry for the confusion, we do allow the authors to add Google analytics box to their themes but it needs to be included as a plugin.
Sorry for my mistake
So now I’m more confused than ever lol
Hi Lucian/Chris,
Just heard back from envato about the Google analytics not being allowed and apparently it’s correct.
They tell me… Theme authors are no longer allowed to create an area within the theme for the google analytics code to be inserted. They didn’t tell me why this change had been made but I have emailed them asking for why and await their reply.
The author of the other theme I bought that did not included an area for the GA code to be inserted told me a guy called Igor at Envato told him about it and it’s enforced by reviewers and to be excluded from Theme Options
Many thanks
Dean
Thanks Chris, I’ll have a look at those links.
Bare in mind that this is the same guy who’s advising me to install a plugin that is no longer supported and hasn’t been updated for 10 months lol 🙂 Think I’ll pass, thanks.
Yeah, I think the guys full of shit to be honest…..
I’ve been buying themes for about 7 years and had never heard of it but assumed it was a recent development, here’s what he wrote
“as per latest ThemeForest rules, theme developers cannot add Google Analytics option to themes”
He sold me a pretty good looking theme that doesn’t do half of what it says and is trying to talk his way out of a sticky situation.
I’m holding out on judgement until I get an answer from Envato or one of the Tagdiv guys, I only asked as this theme has the GA function and didn’t know if it was something to do with GA getting hammered by bots lately?
Thanks for your reply anyhow 🙂
I had changed the category base in the permalinks page and left it blank when refreshed a couple of days ago this cleared the problem.
I have just changed category base back to category, saved it, removed it and then saved the permalinks again and this has cleared the problem.
Could some plugin like yoast be changing the category base permalinks when it is turned on? How do I stop that?
So now it’s really pissing me off.
for the last 2 days I’ve been struggling with this fucking menu, sometimes it’ll pull categories, sometimes it’ll pull pages, sometimes it will only effect 1 page and then move to another page but I have my menu set up to pull pages and it’s not. It’s pulling categories.
I thought it was a plugin issue and it did seem that plugins were effecting it but now I have no plugins active and it’s still doing it.
I had got the site working perfectly until I activated the lazy load feature and now I have categories in the whole of the menu again
Can anyone tell me how I can trace where the page is supposed to be coming from? or recommend a debugging tool so I can see WTF is going on?
Please HEEEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
Loving the update here too
I think I’ve solved it, I think it’s a caching issue.
I’ll have to do a lot more testing as there’s been loads of updates and I need to get a stable base to work from but it seems like one of the theme/wordpress/plugin updates from the last few days has altered the behaviour of WP fastest cache plugins operation.
I’ll update this later for anyone who gets a similar problem
Hi Alin,
So, I went into my permalinks screen and at the bottom there’s the following 2 fields, Category base and Tag base
https://unplug.tips/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/permalinks.jpg
When I set the category base to category it pulls the category page from the navigation menu even though the menu is set to pull a specific page
When I leave the category field blank, it goes back to operating normally.
What is the purpose of this Category field and will leaving it blank alter the overall functionality of the theme in any way?
Many thanks
John

Thanks Alin, I’ll have a go at making the changes and let you know how I get on.
With regards to the issue I thought I had solved with the navigation pulling the categories, it has now returned lol
I updated to the latest version of wordpress last night and now it’s happening again, any ideas on how to stop the menu pulling categories when there are no categories set in the menu only pages?
Best
John
Don’t sweat this one guys, it seems to have sorted itself out. I’ve still got one item in the nav bar that’s a category but I’m assuming that will come back of it’s own accord shortly.
The odd thing about it is even though I’m logged in to the wordpress back end, when I click on the item that’s still a category the login bar disappears from the top of the screen and reappears when I move to another page, very odd but hey shit happens I guess.
Hi Chris,
Thanks for that, works like a charm.
I had read that in the little box where you enter the info but I was trying to add the category name not the ID number.
I’ve figured out the second part of the question too as it’s adding the posts to the block from their creation date not the date published 🙂
Thanks again for your help.
Yes, best of luck with it 🙂
ok, I’ll have to wait for you to add the option in the update
Thanks
Might be better off with a different theme then lol, I’ve been configuring mine full time since Christmas 😮 I’ve nearly got it now though, seems stable enough once you get all of the server stuff sorted out.
If it’s to do with allow_url_fopen no update will fix it, I’d be willing to bet that’s your problem though.
Hi FiftyFifty,
When you updated the theme did you do it via FTP? If you did, it wont work properly.
As Chris suggested, you need to do the update as per his guide, even if you didn’t do it by FTP it’s worth going through it again just to be sure.
Add a new theme (any) to act as a temporary
Delete the old theme in wordpress back end
Delete the VC and social counter plugins
Clear all caches including browser
Disable all the other plugins
Reload the theme via wordpress uploader and activate
Upload the plugins manually from the theme download file not from the on screen message in the plugin page
Activate all plugins
Test again
If that doesn’t do it go back to the wp_booster/td_video_support.php file and check very carefully that you got all the http URL’s some are easy to miss. Chris had said don’t do the youtube shortlinks but I’ve done em all and it works still so I’m kinda hoping it hangs together for a minute.
In your post, don’t forget to tick “video” in format and select style 8 from the post templates, I use the full URL from youtube and enter it into the sidebar
If you are adding the video player block to the page you will have to fill in all of the fields and add a video to it for it to show correctly on the page, you don’t add the full URL though just the series of letters and numbers at the end part of the URL
If all of that fails you probably need to go to your hosting provider and ask them to add a php.ini file and switch on allow_url_fopen = on
After a whole day of trying to find out what was wrong I went back to the server people and asked them if the allow_url_fopen was set to on and he came back with this
“I placed some code in your public_html folders .htaccess file to make the php.ini file work”
Real helpful that…..
So it was in fact the server that was the problem but also the theme should shoulder part of the blame as it’s not configured for SSL and that isn’t made apparent when you buy the theme, I’d also like to add that while TagDiv support and Chris who I understand doesn’t work for TagDiv are very helpful none of the solutions to these basic problems are presented in a coherent way.
Searching several thousand questions on a forum isn’t the best bet because some of this stuff needs to really be done in an organised fashion. More documentation is probably needed and to be fair I will probably put something together to add to the forum just for people who are stuck with configuration and SSL issues but I’m no expert so could end up doing more harm than good?
Anyway, all is working so that at least one satisfied customer.
Let me know how you get on
Problem solved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Chris S, Alin, Lucian and anyone else who’s helped me to solve this problem over the last few days.
I’m going for a lie down now, I’ll pour my brain back in through my ear first in the morning 🙂
Now I’m going to have a disco \o/ \o/
I’ve made a load of changes, I’ll post the results of my turmoil tomorrow for anyone else who’s trying to run the theme on SSL
Hi,
I have emailed the wordpress login details to you and requested that you refund me for 2 of the 3 instances of the theme that I have purchased.
Please take a look, if you can’t solve the problem with the youtube video embed I’ll unfortunately have to find another theme
I Just emptied all caches, purged all files, disabled all plugins except vc and tried it again and still got the same results on posts and pages when trying to publish.
I’m getting a little like I now realise this isn’t going to work for the 3 sites I had planned so I might as well request a refund for the 2 sites I was going to use this theme for, I’ll persevere with my unplug.tips site because of the time that’s already gone into it but it’s not just the cost of the theme that bothers me, I’m not on cheap hosting and the costs of having stuff sitting idle is starting to mount and get a little tedious.
I’ll have to try and work out which instance of the theme is linked to each purchase as there are 3 and I don’t know which is which (if this even matters?)
I’m still waiting for an answer from A2 about whether aqpache needs to be restarted to enable the changes to the php.ini file, as soon as I have that info I will send over the login for the site so you can take a look. Who knows I may be blinded by something obvious that you can see and I can’t
I’ve been trying to add a video playlist to a series of sub pages to tie in different aspects of the content to my youtube channel but I am getting the following error when I add the playlist to the page and press publish.
Obviously there is something deeper going on with this as it is pulling up the same file as the other errors
Line 46 is as follows //take seconds

I’ve reverted back to version 1.5 on one of my test accounts and the problem still remains, it also throws up the problem when deleting posts
Hi Lucien,
Yeah, I’ve done all of that.
The one thing that sticks in my mind now I think about it was that I updated all of my sites to the latest version of the theme on the same day and that was what caused the problem to occur on all of them, it was only happening on 1 of them to begin with.
My brother has a site that’s running on the previous iteration of the site (1.5?) and that works fine (he has the same hosting plan and settings)
I’m going to try and reload the previous version of the theme and see if that makes a difference.
I’ve been on to the server people again, allow_url_fopen is enabled but it is still showing the error, I had read that apache would need to be restarted for the changes to take effect but don’t know if this is correct, I have sent a message asking them for clarification.
